Candy, Candy, Candy

[Sparrow Blundell]

Sparrow bounded into Honeydukes, glowing and looking as bright as any of the candies around. She had on bright pink robes, and her long shocking blonde hair was swirling around her from the faint breeze that blew in as she entered, her violet eyes sparkling. She'd managed to get away from Hogwarts and had gotten such a craving for sweets she'd literally ran all the way here... She still wasn't the greatest at apparating so she didn't want to take the chance of messing up in her excitement. A few people looked at her oddly, as it wasn't every day you saw a girl with bright pink robes and bright blonde hair standing only five feet tall in stature. She idly looked around, debating on what kind of candy she wanted to buy.

Caleb walked down from Hogwarts to Hogsmede, seeing as though it was the middle of the day, and no one had come to the Hospital Wing that needed him or Brandon, the other healer.

His appearance coming into Honeydukes was cleancut, as he was wearing a button-down shirt, cord necklace, black slacks, sandals, and his earring in his left earlobe. He was a perfectionist, always having to have everything neat and orderly. Nothing was wrinkled, he had ironed everything before he had left his room that morning.

He stepped in through the door, seeing a blonde woman in shocking pink robes. He resumed a fretful expression, before returning to his straight face, as he had difficulty showing much emotion.

He walked up to the counter, looking over all of the messy yet delicious candy they had stocked there. Caleb was always quiet, and never really started conversations except on the odd time when it was extremely awkward. But that was back in school. He was no longer in school. He was going to be twenty, on March ninth. Twenty. Time really flew. It seemed like yesterday in which he was walking down to Honeydukes with a friend, buying a Chocolate Frog. Not that he had any friends, he really didn't. But he used to hang around with people from other houses, as no one in Slytherin actually liked him. They rejected him as a "mudblood lover", because he had friends in all of the houses except Slytherin.

But where were those people now? Probably all Death Eaters with no future. Caleb had a future. He could be a great Healer someday. He had immense talent.

Sparrow had been busy pondering the type of person who actually ate cockroach clusters when she heard an unfamiliar voice greet her. She turned around, and like always had to crane her neck up, but this guy was taller than most, at about 6 foot, and poor Sparrow only reaching 5 felt rather small in his presence. But she took no note of it and cast him a merry grin anyway. He seemed rather dressed up to go to a candy store, but then again some people just liked looking nice all the time, and so Sparrow guessed that that was just it.

"Hey, do you like cockroach clusters? Because I've been trying to figure out what sort of person would enjoy them," she said, making a slight face and pulling him right into a conversation, chatting away as if they'd known each other for years. But that was just the sort of person Sparrow was, innocent and happy to talk with anyone. "Because I just don't think eating bugs sounds very delicious at all, and I don't know of anyone who doesn't agree with me, but apparantly someone buys them if they're still making them..." she looked back down at all the colorful candy thinking it over for a while.

Caleb was slightly taken aback. 'Well, I.. No, I don't eat them.' He finished lamely. 'But have you ever tried one?' He challenged her.

He grabbed a couple of Chocolate Frogs, placing them on the counter. Paying for them with three sickles, and fifteen knuts. He picked them up off the counter, handing one to the woman. 'Would you like one?' He asked, not knowing whether she liked Chocolate Frogs or not.

He glanced at the other candy, wondering what else he could buy there. There was definately plenty to choose from.

Caleb had always been somewhat self-concious about being extremely tall, and this woman definately made him feel even more so. She had to be about a foot shorter than him. But it obviously didn't matter to her, as she was speaking freely to him.

"I'd love one thanks," she said, surprised at the generosity. She wasn't really one that most people talked to and gave things to, because she could get very annoying at times. She glanced back over at the cockroach clusters, then back at this unknown guy who seemed to be about her age with a slight smile gracing her features. There was really only one way to find out what they tasted like, so she grabbed one and quickly paid for it before breaking the cluster in half. "I've never tried one, but there's a first time for everyone.... Plus now when someone asks if I've ever had one, I can say yes... Would you like that privilage," she said, waving the other half at him with a slight grin, going to wait for his answer before she ate it.

"An antennae, oh ew," she said suddenly as she took a closer look at the candy. She gulped but then smiled again, as it would be good to try, and it wouldn't hurt her or anything.

Caleb gave her a small smile. He didn't usually smile or show any facial emotions, so when you earned a smile from him, you really did earn it.

'Thanks.' He said, taking the half of the cockroach cluster.

He glanced at it, then took a bite, not wanting to freak himself out by looking at it for too long. It was chewy, but slightly crunchy. 'Odd..' Was all he said, as he polished off the rest of the cluster. 'It's kinda sugary.' He said with a grimace. He wasn't a huge fan of liquid sugar.

Sparrow screwed her eyes shut and put the large majority in her mouth, and though it didn't taste that bad, she could feel legs and antennaes in her mouth and that was just disgusting. "Leg, leg!" she just about squeaked as she continued to chew. "Ew ew, I think I just ate a head... Or a wing, do cockroaches have wings?" she asked, finishing down the rest of it and finally opened her eyes, knowing she must have looked and sounded quite silly so she laughed at herself. Unlike Caleb, Sparrow could almost always be found smiling, laughing, or talking... or any combination of those three she was just a cheery girl by nature and it showed.

"Now... after that little initiation ceremony," she said jokingly, sticking her hand out to shake. "My name's Sparrow Blundell, I work at Hogwarts... How about you Mr. Cockroach Cluster?" she asked with a slight grin, using her other hand to brush her bright blonde hair out of her violet eyes.

Caleb had a small grin on his face as Sparrow ate the cockroach cluster. 'I'm Caleb Camerson. I also work at Hogwarts.' He said, taking her hand into his, and shaking it gently.

Caleb opened his Chocolate Frog, eating it before it had the chance of hopping away. He looked at the card, seeing it was Tom Brown, the headmaster. He grinned, putting it in his pocket for safekeeping.

'Do you teach at Hogwarts?' He asked, knowing that just because you worked at Hogwarts didn't mean you were a professor. She could've been the janitor for all he knew. And he didn't teach, yet he worked there. 'I'm a healer.'

"Mmm... yes and no. I'm Quidditch Master so I give the little first years their first tries on brooms, and ref the games, but I don't really consider that teaching, at least not on the same plane as teaching Charms or Divination," she said with a slight shrug, taking out her chocolate frog and also eating it before she continued. "I'm glad there are finally some good healers at Hogwarts, with Brandon and now you... At least, I'm guessing you're good... you seem like the person who would take their job seriously, not that that's a bad thing, it's good because then you'll be able to fix up all the broken students I send up to you," she said with a grin and a wink. She'd really been rambling, but she just rambled all the time, and you either got really annoyed by it, or thought it was cute or interesting, or a mix of both. But it was just something you'd have to live with if you were to know Sparrow Blundell.

She looked around at the candy store, seeing if there was anything else she really needed at the moment, though nothing caught her eye as of yet. She didn't look like the model quidditch player, because she looked very petite and not at all athletic, but she was small, flexible, and agile, not to mention knew a lot about it, so in that sense she'd do well as the quidditch master at Hogwarts if she actually got any sort of authority over the students... almost all of them were taller than her.

Caleb smiled and nodded, as she spoke. 'Yes, I've only treated one student so far. Patched her up pretty well though.' He said thinking about it.

He could see Sparrow commanding kids that were taller than her. She seemed like the type to be kind and gentle unless you disobeyed her.

'How long have you been working at Hogwarts?' He asked. This would give him a timeframe of how old she was, if she was much older than him. Not that it really mattered, it didn't. He didn't particularly care.

"This is my first year here, I was in my fifth year when the school closed down, so after I finished my education I did a bit of exploring around the world, you know, see what it was like and then came back here to teach," she said, with a slight shrug. If Caleb was smart he could realize that the school had been closed down for 5 years, making Sparrow now 20 years old. Sparrow wasn't deep enough to realize that, but just failed to mention how old she was because it really wasn't a part of the answer to his question. "I'm guessing this is your first year too," she said, as he looked to be young and she didn't remember seeing him at the Hospital Wing before it had closed down.

"Wait, what happened to him or herl? School's barely begun," she asked curiously, wondering what possibly could have happened to a student already.

Caleb smiled slightly. 'Gryffindor girl got in a fight with a Slytherin guy.' He said, shaking his head. 'I'm nineteen. The school closed down while I was in my fourth year.' He said, now knowing that Sparrow was only a year older than himself.

He thought of his years at Hogwarts. It hadn't changed since he'd been there, but he knew that it would never really be the same. Not truly. He was somewhat glad that he was no longer in classes, but he missed being part of day-to-day life. That always was very interesting.

"Hmmm... You look a bit familiar, what house were you in? I was in Hufflepuff... And if you hadn't seen me, you'd have probably heard about me, I was the annoying one with the pet emu... Still am actually, Fred's back at Hogwarts in my office," she said, she was a bit crazy when it came to her emu, but if you could get around that she was a great girl. She was very pretty with her long blonde hair and bright violet eyes, she was so nice to everyone, she always had something to say, and if you were around her... life could never be boring because she simply glowed with energy, happiness, and enthusiasm.

Caleb nodded. 'I was in Slytherin.. although I didn't have any Slytherin friends, mostly Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.' He said with a small smile.

He racked his brain, trying to remember anything about a pet emu. 'I think a girl in my year was talking about Fred.. that is his name, right?' He said, remembering the girl talk about the oddness of Sparrow.

"Yes it was... or is, he's still around," she said with a grin, though she could almost see that he was thinking back to what he'd heard about her. "But don't worry... I'm sane I promise, I just had a bit of growing up to do... And I did eventually, maturity wise... sadly not height wise," she said with a slight shrug and a giggle. She then thought about his house, and he reminded her of someone so she decided to tell him, whether he'd find it interesting or not she didn't really know.

"You remind me a bit of my cousin, Raven... well Brown now, she was a Slytherin too, a 7th year, and she never was around the other Slytherins, she even ended up sleeping in the Ravenclaw Dorms things got so bad, some guy knocking her around you know? But her best friend was a Gryffindor, and she married a Ravenclaw, so she broke just about every Slytherin stereotype and is now Deputy Headmistress," she said, with another shrug as she gazed around one more time at the candy.
