Before today, High Reaches was experiencing a period of calm since the day both adult golds rose. The new Weyrleader is only seventeen (half the age of his Weyrwoman) and was injured in his first 'Fall as Weyrleader. But the acting Weyrleader is an experienced wingleader whose bronze has twice sired golds with the Weyrwoman Second's dragon. The riders were improving constantly in 'Fall. And both golds produced healthy clutches.

None of it was enough to prevent what happened.

The Weyrwoman has disappeared. So has the junior Weyrwoman. The only goldrider left is weyrling, now in charge and trying to handle two panicked and furious golds who don't know where their riders are. And no one knows who or why or how.

And the question everyone really wants answered but doesn't want to ask: Will either woman make it back alive?


High Reaches Weyr is a PbEM/zine club set at the end of the First Long Interval. We've been around for over three years now, and we've just produced our eleventh zine, most of which have been over a hundred pages. We're always looking for new members and we have a variety of status positions available if you're interested.

We’re specifically looking for wingseconds (bronzeriders and maybe a couple of brownriders, minimum of four years out of weyrling training), and craftmasters for the Weyr, as well as minor holders for Nabol, Tillek and High Reaches, all of which have their own stand in the current issues. Also, we're going to have a special clutch hatch in a few weeks in which you write the dragon and we supply the candidate - the dragon will be the primary character for you.

Right now, we're still dealing with the fallout from Nabol , Thread, and the issues between the Weyrwoman and the Weyrleader and wingleaders.
