Hi to all
It has been a bit quiet on here recently so I thought I would ask for your experiences and what to do and what not to do when attempting to set up iCatcher console onto my web site.
I am thinking of doing it using the FTP method as described on the iCatcher web page, is that a good idea? Any pitfalls, what could go wrong, is it easy, how do I test it.
Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg..

I guess we will look to you for the testing of the FTP side of icatcher..
I personaly have only ever used the streaming / console side of the software.

Have run into a problem with port forwarding whilst trying to set this up.
iCatcher asks for port 80 to be opened in my router, however it is in use by I discovered by Web Guard part of my anti virus suite. I have tried disabling it but to no effect. angry.gif
Have asked iCode for help but have you guys any suggestions?

Greg
BTW also now going for the streaming mode instead of FTP.

Sorry for the delay... Its hectic at work at the moment..

Go into the I catcher console, select the web server tab. Enable embeded web server and make sure the ip address is 0.0.0.0

Then set the port to 1040 That's what I use with no conflicts.

Then you just need to port forward to your I catcher console (ip address) machine from the router.

TCP port from 1040 to 1040.

So to access the console from within your network http://your icatcher machine internal ip address:1040 e.g http://192.168.1.16:1040

From Outside your network for example the internet. http://Your IP address given to you by your ISP:1040 (you can use Whats My IP to find your IP address)

e.g http://85.233.160.70:1040

Of course if you have a dynamic IP address you will need a little more setting up...

Hope this helps

Having spent a lot of today messing around with routers, firewalls and iCatcher I finally read your post above!!
I used your port and lo and behold it works sort of but I do not understand why it did not work when I used ports 80 or 81 or 82 for that matter.
Anyway my problem now is that when I view from within my network I get the iCatcher layout like yours but when I view from the web I get a neat little video screen which just shows the one cam with no options to change cam etc.
I shall work on that tonight and tomorrow if need be.

Many many thanks for the print out Nige, I had done all of that but using different ports, I guess I would eventually have got to 1040!!! not that I should need to.
