just got some of the new EU cable, not much different on the outside, the colours are different, blue and brown not red and black, makes it the same colours as flex. Is it me or did flex used to be red and black?

had chat.gif with a sparky mate of mine today, old chap, anyway he confirmed that flex was indeed red and black and it was meant to be changed at the same time as the fixed wiring cable colours but somehow the fixed wiring colour change got forgotten. em26.gif

Oh and whilst on the subject of flex, I heard that european flex is black and white and some fixed wiring is just white on all three cores, how does that work then? wacko.gif

as far as i am aware, the all white cable thingy, the cores are numbered 1,2,3.
1 is hot (live)
2 is ground (earth)
3 is neutral

I've noticed that the power supply companies in this area are now putting colour warning labels on the meters

If there are 2 versions of wiring colours i.e red/black AND brown/blue within your property

IT IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT THAT A NOTICE OF SUCH IS DISPLAYED AT THE POINT OF ISOLATION (NORMALLY THE CONSUMER UNIT (FUSE BOARD)

legal as in MUST be one or upto £5000 fine

BE AWARE
