This is a foolproof guide to starting out at ANOTHER LIFE. Follow these step-by-step instructions to successfully sign up, confirm your claims, and be in a position to RP.

So, you’re reading this. Good. This should be the very first thing you read unless you prefer to skim through current RPs and apps to decide whether a site is for you. Well, conventions would dictate you begin reading THE RULES.

It’s a necessity and if you’re here on this ADVANCED site, you’ve already had
a lot of experience with them. But do read them in case there’s something that
surprises you, or perhaps is more a Trek orientated rule or restriction. There
are additional rules on registration you’ll need to know before signing up. Once
you’ve read the rules, do you feel like they’re acceptable and you can abide by
them? If so, move onto the next section.

>> THE PLOT <

If you came here via an advertisement (and I don’t see how you couldn’t), then
you’ll be familiar with the plot picture whore’d out on sites. But THE PLOT topic
features more, including information on secondary characters and the current
‘episode’. Essential information on just how the admin profile contributes to the
plot and the opportunities you have in playing part-time redshirts and villains.
This is a topic you should come back to regularly to keep abreast of the current
situation. Does the five year mission sound like fun? If so, move onto the next
section.

> YOUR ADMINS <

This is not essential viewing, but it will give you an idea of who you’re RPing
with in order to develop some essential camaraderie between RPers. So long as
the admins don’t put you off, move onto the next section.

CHARACTER CLAIM >>

This is optional for OCs but essential for those wishing to play a canon. You
must first check to see if they are available. If they are open, or you are an OC,
move onto the next section.

> FACE <

Ensure your celebrity claim has not been taken. Canons needs not look here as
face claims are already submitted. You will return to this section later. Is your
claim free? Or can you replace your taken face claim? If so, move onto the next
section.

> RANK <

For the benefit of knowing which ranks and special classes are available, check
here. As canons are already added, this is section is unnecessary for them.

In order to make the most of the application, read this document explaining the
merits of a good app. While designed for OCs, canons may learn from it as well.
Take note that character denials are very real and possible on ANOTHER LIFE,
therefore this reading is required to know what is asked of you. Once you’ve
read and understood the topic, move onto the next section.

application as required. Once finished, WAIT for approval by an admin.

admin has added this claim, your post will be deleted from the thread. Done?

Select the code and fill it in, posting your details. Colours will be added by the
admin and your post deleted upon acceptance. Done? Move onto the next

> QUARTERS <

While not necessary, this section involves the creation of sub-boards in NCC-
1701 >> LIVING QUARTERS, providing RPers with personalised character
quarters. Copy the code and post your details. Once accepted, your post will be
removed. Done? Move onto the next section.

You are now ready to start RPing. Congratulations. Have a chat in the c-box if you haven’t already, get to know your fellow RPers. But there are additional features you can attend to while you wait for activity.

For those monologues and narratives. Treat this essentially as a Dear Diary
focusing on whatever subjects you wish.

> SECONDARY APPLICATION TEMPLATE >

Some time in the future, you may wish to create non-essential personnel or
plot-orientated non-Starfleet types that will encountered on planets throughout
this series. Check the PLOT thread for potential characters that are required
for the specific episode. When a suitable character is located, copy the code of
the SECONDARY APPLICATION TEMPLATE.

admin. Face/rank/quarter claims for secondary characters are not required
making them post 'n' go characters.
