Katherine placed her head in her hands and sighed, knowing that the sense of failure was coming soon, though for most there would be hardly any reason to worry. She was attempting to balance a few of the family's many checkbooks, even those besides her own, but she was starting to get a headache. Papers flew around as Kathy reached out and shoved things off the table in annoyance- Why the hell did they all spend so much?! Aside from simple necessities, like food and clothing, one of her elder sisters had purchased two cars within the past six months. Two! As if one canary yellow convertible wasn't enough, she also needed a lipstick red one. Lipstick-fucking-red.

Not that Kathy didn't enjoy balancing the checkbooks. It gave her a better sense of control, and an understanding of the family's financial situation, which she was always unnecessarily nervous about. It wasn't as if her father's millions were going anywhere. Were they? She pressed her fingers to her temples and tried to relax, as her doctor had suggested. Stop worrying about things that you simply can't control, he'd told her. Don't make the troubles of others your own.

Easy for him to say. He didn't have these things to think about. Katherine took very little for granted- she knew that the wealthy could fall as easily as they rose; it had happened before, and the thought of being penniless was uncomfortable for her. Not that she couldn't survive if they lost everything, but honestly... "Damn." she mumbled, and leaned over to pick up the papers that had just been tossed to the ground. They'd have to be sorted again.
