The faction leaders of the Alliance want to make trouble for the Feds again. Therefore, they're going to make a play for taking over control of Onderon. This counts as a major faction battle, which has been run by Indy and approved. Therefore, we need to do some serious prep before it can take place.
The major factions to be involved in this thread are, of course, the
Confederation and the
Alliance. Members of the
Mandalorian faction will be more than welcome to join in; they control Onderon's moon, and they will receive a cordial invitation from the Alliance to attend the party. In addition, members of the
Jedi Order may choose to participate, though this is not something the Order will mandate specifically.
Members of the
Cult of Sadow,
Criminal, and
Neutral factions do not have IC reason to participate at this time. If you think you have a special case, you may take it up with the staff. However, you will need an extraordinary justification to get a character from those factions involved.
Be sure you review the
Major Faction Battles rules post. These are important guidelines that need to be followed and will be enforced.
Of particular note, the number of forces fielded for attack and defense must be decided on beforehand by the faction leaders involved. The list will need to be sent to the staffer in charge of the thread (probably Indy) before the thread is to start. They will be set in stone after that. Please do not share tactical information with players of faction leaders from the other side; I know we all trust eachother here, but that's the most fair way to do it. In cases of people playing multiple faction leaders, they should probably delegate the task to another faction leader.
Right now we are looking at scheduling the start of the battle thread some time in November. This will give people the chance to consider their tactical options and buy up any vessels/vehicles they want to use. Remember that all purchases made using faction monies must be agreed upon by the faction leaders, and may not be done for personal use. If you want something specific for your character, use their bank account instead.
The delay will also help people to decide whether or not they want to participate in the thread. If you do not think you will have time to participate, you may want to bow out from doing so. Remember, if you fail to post in a major plot thread for two weeks, your character will be turned into an NPC to be controlled by the staff until your 'turn' comes up again.
I'd like to see people commit to what characters they will be using by the end of October. So get to pondering! When you've decided to sign a character up, send a PM to Indy under her staff account (Wes Loran) so we can make an official listing on here. If you don't commit by October 31st, your character can't join the thread.
