When asked whether he'd been attracted to men in the past, Gyllenhaal said, "No, but hopefully you can see I'm not afraid of it."

The Guardian loves the album!

Mariah Carey: Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel
(Mercury)

4stars.gif

A new Mariah Carey album, a new promotional psychodrama: the jaunty, wisecracking lead single Obsessed exhumed an old beef with Eminem, received a lukewarm reception and was hurriedly replaced by a safe, typically bombastic Foreigner cover. It is not surprising that Carey's label is nervous: Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is a sprawling, 17-track epic with few obvious singles – but it is loaded with creativity. It's an astonishingly intimate listen. Songs unfold lavishly and gradually, with typically verbose internal monologues ("I was oh, so acquiescent – but I learned my lesson," Carey muses on It's a Wrap). For Carey, intimacy is inextricably bound with luxury. Her voice is layered like plush, velvet cushions and backed by swooning, subtle production (courtesy of R&B producer The-Dream) that gets increasingly odd and abstract as the album progresses. Though her midrange may be increasingly ragged, she navigates her flaws with panache – impressive for a singer whose reputation has been built on perfection – and age has only sharpened her ridiculous sense of humour: "Love me like a sugar daddy, love me like a pimp Caddy," she pleads on the feather light Candy Bling. You can't help but do so.

It was rather hilarious wasn't it!
I love how she gets UK humour, and went along with it.

YAY.

When it arrives please post what it looks like! I know it sounds weird but I've held off ordering until I know exactly which version I want. Basically I don't want the one with the Elle mag to be in a different format to normal CDs.

What do you mean 'format'?
I don't think either edition comes in a standard jewel CD case, if that's what you mean. They're both digipacks.
It didnt' come today... Hopefully tomorrow! I will post piccies for you though smilegrin.gif

Thanks! Yeah that's what I meant, I don't like anything that deviates from the standard jewel case! But seeing as they do, I'd like to have the least offensive one, I just need to know which one that is! They might both be pretty much the same with just one having the mag and the other one without it, but it's all just so unclear!

Do you have E=MC2? Mine is in a digipack. They look so out of place in my collection!

I love those ones!!! The one where you push the button in to open it, right?
They look so much more modern!

It's no thicker than an ordinary CD.
The 'magazine' is just a glorified sleeve, lol.

Love this album in the car!

I got the non-digipack version of the album btw. The cardboard cover looked awful!
