Atop the forested, rocky mountain of Mt. Hallow, there is the large gothic building of delicate architecture and beautiful adornments. It is Sanctum Academy: a place where students learn to become exorcists so they can fight off and exorcise demons. It has not always been an academy, having only recently opened as one; and there are mysteries and secrets waiting: to be discovered -- or to kill.
Originally, the academy was a place where exorcists gathered to discuss spiritual academia, research into alchemy, and discover more of the various aspects of the Rites. However, an organized swarm of demons came and overtook the place, killing many of the exorcists and sending some fleeing for their lives. The demons then turned the mountain into a military fortification, building a great fortress on the north side, many towers about the mountain, and occupying the exorcists grand building on the south. Many things went on there that the exorcists were unbeknownst of.
Years later, the king of England and the Vatican sent an army towards Hallow Mountain to reclaim the demon occupied lands. A grand battle ensued on Hallow Mountain, where the exorcists won. The fortress was leveled and many of the towers around the mountain were sent down to ruins, with the exception of four to the east. The exorcists then tried to repair and bring their old headquarters back to the way it was. Things turned out smoothly, and eventually they decided to turn the building into an academy to teach the Rites. The academy eventually grew to hold about 50 students.
Then, on one fated All Hallow's Eve, ten years after the victory over the demons on Hallow Mountain, almost everyone in the building disappeared. No bodies were left behind, and no one knew where they disappeared off to. And those that did not disappear could not recall the incident that caused it or simply refused to speak. Some tried to solve the mystery, but nothing came out of it. After several years, the Church decided to reoccupy the building, sending out more exorcists there. This time, on All Hallow's Eve, 5 years after that mysterious incident, the same event occurred. At this point, the place had now earned its infamous reputation as haunted, and very few people dared tread near it, even when ordered by the Church. Those that tried to stay ended up disappearing within 3, 2, and 1 year intervals. Even when the people left the building on that fated day, they still disappeared. After that, it was completely abandoned.
Several hundred years later, now in the Victorian era, the mystery of the disappearances of Sanctum Academy fell into myth. Nevertheless, no one dared near it. Until, that is, a group of exorcists with full permission from the Vatican decided to reoccupy it. Having been there for a year and not suffered any consequences from their staying there, as well as finding nothing unusual about the place, the Church has disbanded the myth about Sanctum Academy and given full permission to turn it into an academy once more. However, the legend behind it still lingers in the minds of the exorcists. And the legend may very well be waiting to once again snatch its prey.
