so this is gill. you can call him gill even if you're one of his students. he doesn't believe in being called professor or really anything like that. it wasn't something that he was interested in at all. he wants to feel at equal with his students really. he went to school at columbia where he studied literature. it was something he was always incredibly interested in. more than he can even imagine really. after that he worked as a copy editor at the village voice and also did work as a waiter at nights. he's been working at the school for about five years now. he loves it to death really and he just feels at home here. he's the type of person that you should never get started on talking about books unless you want to talk to him about it for a while. he's not the most talkative person in the world, but he's not shy, just not the type to always be talking. he doesn't know what to say a lot of the time or thinks it's all just superfluous. when he does talk though it's usually about something random or some sort of funny observation or he's going to just act like an asshole and be sarcastic about it. he's a very sarcastic guy, but he's always kidding. if people take him seriously he really feels bad about it. he's a hard worker and a really self motivated person. he will help his students out. he'd also be the type of person that would hang out with his students after class and go out for a drink and stuff like that. basically a really down to earth kind of guy and he likes to just have fun and enjoy the things he enjoys.

friends would be other professors. he would get along with all the literature and english teachers i imagine. um and just i don't now seniors who he's had a lot for classes and just people he knows from town either. enemies could happen i guess. possibly somebody that he failed or i don't know whatever you can really think. love is sort of filled. he's been with somebody for the past three to four years i need to request and then he has something that's going to happen with a student. not sure where either is leading really though. he's also bisexual and he probably has flirted a bunch from time to time. so get on this.

he and elisa will be friends. because. journalism. and professors things. so yes.

I would say something more substantial than this, but it's
kind of after 1 am, and I have only flailed a little bit at seeing
this. Hawk here (yes, please call him Hawk, not Basil xD) is
a logic professor and he's rather upbeat and friendly and stuff
and I think that he and Gill should be friends. I swear I have
reasons; English just isn't my friend right now. But yes, there.
Do whatever you like with this idea, and if you have something
to add to it, please do. I'll try to add more when it's a decent hour xD

ELISA && GILL oohhh he'd enjoy her. he would be able to take harsh random things she said for sure and they could talk journalism and about how crappy of a place it is to start out since you don't get to do anything fun. i can also see her being the person that gets on his case when he does stupid things or when he does his one stupid thing and even if nothing is happening (well that anybody has proof of or he'll admit to) she'll just side eye him like "dude wtf?"

 

GINNY && GILL oh yes, she probably would have! well assuming she likes shakespeare, poe, moby dick, or well anything 19th century or modern really cause that's what he teaches and she'd be crazy to not like at least one of them. he would think she was adorable and he probably wondered where she disappeared to and when she came back talked to her about it and if she didn't want to he'd be like "alright that's fine" but she'd be one of the ones that he just sort of chatted with sometimes cause he likes her.

 

OLIVER && GILL i could see them going out drinking from time to time, though i imagine that oliver gets a bit crazy with that and gill just starts talking about random stuff and then gets really self conscious about just how drunk he is and do it doesn't happen often cause gill doesn't really like being super drunk, but he thinks that oliver is fun all the same.

 

HAWK && GILL james <3333 but yes they can be friends for sure! he probably was like "hawk?" when he introduced himself and probably asked a million times that it was really what he wanted to be called cause he will call somebody a nickname, but only if he's sure that's what they want to go by. and even then it might have taken getting a glare of "just call me hawk" or two to get him to do it. i can see basil also random throwing some logic question out at gill and him just sitting there all wide eyed like "and now i'm going to have to spend the rest of my night figuring this out and i hate you for it" and yeah. there will probably be some random innocent flirting from time to time, but never anything more just stuff that kind of happens between them and neither really notice it much. and yes they shall be great friends.

 

He would have introduced himself as Basil Hawkins, but
would have quickly added "Please just call me Hawk."
He's not the biggest fan of his first and middle names
since his mom went a little crazy on her literature
obsession when she named him. Yes, logic problems!
He'd do it just to get that reaction and grin at him when
he did. Innocent flirting for the win. Harmless flirting back
and forth is always fun, and Hawk secretly likes to flirt so
that all works. If you want to do anything with them, let
me know and we'll get something going c:

Oh hi. So this is Beau, and when he finds out you're flirting with
Hawk, he will not be happy AT ALL. So maybe these two can
get into some weird misunderstanding scuffle? Idk. Beau likes
starting fights for almost no reason, and the fact that he has the
hots for Hawk, who flirts with Gill is more than enough of a
reason for him.

HAWK && GILL uessss and i'm sure when gill found out all his names he got really excited and decided that hawk's mom was one of his favorite people. even if she didn't pick his favorite literature things, but yeah. but we should do a thread i think! of them chilling out randomly.

 

BEAU && GILL i imagine gill spends a bunch of time in his bookstore so he'd know him from there. but yeah if he got mad at him for flirting with hawk, he would not know what to do. he'd try to avoid all confrontation i think and be like "look i have a boyfriend/girlfriend (since the spot is still just a request) and i really don't like want him or anything" of course if it came down to it, he'd fight back, but yeah. he would try to talk himself out of it first. and even then i don't think he'd be great at fighting and would probably find a human shield.

 

I will see you naked at least once.

SHILOH && GILL the first time he walked into class, gill noticed him and then realized a few classes later that he was definitely spending a whole lot of class time talking at shiloh rather than at the class and so of course he did the only logical thing possible and that was start talking to shiloh before class a bit and then after. and then he will invite him out for drinks and then realize that that was really a stupid thing for him to do because he might as well be married, but there is this gorgeous amazing boy right there in front of him and he cannot just ignore that. and all the shit will go down and there will be nakedness for sure. annnddd i will start us a thread asap.

 

Well, Shiloh's been pretty hot for
teacher pretty much since he started
the class, and since he's an ambitious
little guy, I'm sure he'd make it a point
to flirt, keep eye contact, smile, and all
those other rather unsubtle things. Shiloh
has always been the kind to go after
the things that he wants, so Gill would
certainly be on that list. Not as just a
conquest, but Shiloh genuinely wants him

maxie here only graduated three years ago and was a previous student here at hwc. and she probably would have been a student of mr. barnes here. she majored in womens studies and minored in literature. and i think he would have found her an annoying student. but probably an amusing coworker but she is new to staff and probably calls him professor barnes or mr. b or barney. and wouldnt be in the whole coworker status yet. but yess thats all i got haha.

Hawk probably just facepalmed at his excitement about
his names and made him swear never to repeat them in
public xD He would also like to apologize for Beau because
he will feel so bad about that and go scold him later after
he apologizes to Gill as soon as he finds out. but them
hanging out and being awesome! Would you like to start
or should i?

SHILOH && GILL gill is going to be so into the confidence thing and he's going to kick himself for it daily. and i will send you a link when it's up!

 

MAX && GILL hah yeah she can be that student that constantly made him want to hit his head on a wall at the end of the day. but as long as she did her work for the most part he was probably alright with it. and now that they work together he still does it, but in a less violent way. and he always says like "i told you when you were my student it's gill. you can call me gill." and yeah. he'd like her in a weird way where it's like a fond spot he has for her.

 

HAWK && GILL hah, he'd promise and then try to remember. and he wouldn't blame him for beau. he understands some people are just crazy. and if you could start it would be awesome!

 

Avery loves Giiiiill. He loves him a lot. And he
just has a lot of feels that I don't know how to
express. They live together, they have Melville,
Gill calls him psychotic when he wants to go
surfing during the middle of a hurricane, but makes
him hot chocolate anyway for when he gets home.
They play laser tag and Avery makes Gill paranoid
by watching him cook, and then makes up by making
him awesome pancakes and such. And Gill arrests
him. So dear god, he's going to be distraught and
heartbroken and it's just going to be horrible. He'll
hide at Sirius's and get drunk on his suitcase of wine
and show up to take Melville to work with him like
he always does, but not be able to look at Gill or
talk to him for a while and just big big big mess.
