welcome to champagne from a paper cup. we're a real life roleplay that centers around the lives of university students, staff, and (of course) the locals that are affected by both as they attend or teach at henry woodward college. henry woodward college was founded back in 1812 which means that it is quickly coming up on it's bicentennial birthday. with that in mind, the students at henry woodward are going to each celebrate in their own way. for many, this will mean breaking out as much illegal alcohol that they can get their hands on and pouring it into the oh too famous red solo cup. but, for some, they will choose to ignore it seeing the day as a really lame reason for a party. so, what will you choose to do? will you choose to be on the side that thinks that a college's birthday is nothing to celebrate? or will you see anything as a good reason for a party no matter how lame? after all, you know what they say, college is a good place to discover what your true core values are.

Lights were whirring in front of her face. Flashes and hazes, bright colors popping against her iris and making Briony recoil. The room tilted as she rose, sounds of laughter coming from the other side of the bar. It made her smile, a silly, drunken grin plastering itself on her pink lips. The glass she held felt cool to the touch, and she sipped it eagerly, luxuriating in the sweet, sharp taste of the alcohol as it slid down her throat. She'd come with a few girls, and they were -- they were -- Briony spun around, sudden panic knotting in her stomach. She stumbled a few steps, reaching out for balance, the names of her friends ready to bubble out from her mouth. She couldn't see them. She was alone. They'd left her. Drunk. Brow furrowed, biting her lip, Briony scowled, feeling the alcohol race along her veins, feeling the floor fall away from her, feeling the adrenaline pump its way into her heart. Maybe they'd gone out. Or maybe she'd embarrassed them already -- whatever, it was late, drinks were flowing, this was college, who gave a shit. But her pride was wounded. Flipping open her phone, Briony sank slowly down to the floor and pressed the number 4 on speed dial. She didn't give Theo time to say anything. "Hiiiiiiiii." Was that her voice? So low, so hoarse? "You busy?"

the most exciting thing that had happened in theo's life lately was his ability to finally get a full nights sleep. though reese was constantly still on his mind, though there wasn't a day that he went without thinking and wishing and praying that she was still there with him, he'd finally been able to sleep through the night. that meant no waking up in a cold sweat, with nightmares, no waking up with tears wetting his cheeks, all of that seemed to pass. the one year anniversary of her death was getting closer and closer and closer, and though a couple of months ago theodore was sure he wouldn't even make it here, he was starting to realize that despite everything everyday did get easier and easier. now tough? he was wrestled awake by the sound of his phone vibrating on his night stand, and as he reached for it groggy and tired, he didn't even have time to open his mouth before the person on the other end was greeting him. what the - pulling the phone instantly away from his ear as she first spoke, still tired and sensitive to sound, he yawned loudly. "briony?" not even bothering to check if it was her, his arm curled underneath his pillow as he buried his face into the warmth of the cushion. why on earth was she calling him so late? "no, i'm just," pushing himself up a little bit he ran a hand over his tired face, "is everything okay? where are you?"

Her tongue felt thick, pasty, the words heavy. She tried to ignore the thudding in her head and felt exhausted with the effort. But there was a lightness in her blood, an exhilaration, a sick sort of glee that made her grin all the brighter and want to sing. Yes, yes, Briony was drunk; that much was obvious. But she had not lost leave of her senses quite yet. She pressed the phone against her cheek, fingers gripping tight, head thunking back against the smooth wood of the bar. Some people in the far corner were looking at her with a strange quirk in their eyes, but Briony didn't care. She didn't! Who gave a shit? People went to bars to get drunk, that was the entire fucking point, bozo. Briony ran a hand through her hair, fingers shaking. "I'm fine, dipshit, 'xcept that -- except that people are assholes." A wild giggle, and she shot the group in the corner a dark, burning look. Sighing, she slumped further down on the ground. "'M stranded, Theooooo. Feel like gettin' up?" She was being wildly unfair, and, somewhere, she knew it. But the alcohol was pounding. Her friends had gone. He was all she had left, and, well. She'd exploit it, as always.
