When I was fifteen, one of my teachers asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. It was the first time anyone besides my younger sister, Madeline, had asked me that. Really asked me with the intention of finding out what it was that I wanted to do with my life. My parents, busy as they were, were very goal oriented. So if they asked me what I wanted to do with my life, it was always “What career are you going to pursue.” Growing up privileged has so few drawbacks that there is no where to complain. No adversity to say I’ve overcome that wouldn’t make most people roll their eyes. But with this one simple question, I found myself unsure of what it was that I wanted from my life. That teacher, who was my 10th grade French teacher, became one of the most influential people in my life. She told me I had a knack for languages, and asked me to join the French club on my campus. That class changed my life because I fell completely in love with a country, a culture, a language, and a rich history of art, literature, and music. This teacher in particular inspired me and helped me to find out just what it was that I wanted to be when I grew up. Every decision since then has been shaped by that decision, including my decision to apply to Henry Woodward College.

"Charlotte Foster would be an extraordinary asset to any college she applies to, but I feel that she would fit especially well with the curriculum and environment at Henry Woodward College. Having taught Charlotte French for three years and having advised her in several extra curricular activities I can confirm that she is a well-rounded, bright, especially hard working individual with an optimism in the face of stressful situations that is unparalleled from what I’ve witnessed in my fifteen years as an educator."

"Charlie? Oh, she’s fantastic! We were doubles tennis partners in high school, all four years. She’s a lot of fun when she’s not working. But when she’s stressed? Everything has to be perfect. We fought a bit during practices but only because I’m perfectly fine being a little messy and off-beat if it means we win, but she wants everything to be flawless, form and all. But usually she’s so nice."
- jane dennington, former tennis teammate

"Charlotte did a work study at my gallery for volunteer work a few months back and I have to say, the girl is ambitious, and very dedicated. But she’s also something that is very important in dealing art that is charm. She’s incredibly likable and she knows her stuff. I was very impressed with her."
