Pandemic. It's not a word people like to hear, but now it's a reality. Tragedy has stricken the entire US . . . the entire globe. A virus was released by some US army base in southern California, and now the entire world has been affected with this horrible disease.

Except for a few. For some reason, not everyone died from the disease. About one in 10,000 people survived, but now they're all alone. Their families are gone, their friends are gone, their enemies are gone. Everything they knew and loved and hated before is gone within a couple short days, leaving these survivors in a new and unimaginable world. While they have packaged food and weapons, they lack the modern conveniences of television, running water, and electicity. And they don't know how many others there are alive.

You are one of the survivors. Will you ban together with your fellow survivors or stay out of everyone's way? After all, it was human error which released this disease in the first place. Who says that something like this won't strike again? And the violence is now uncontrolled. Nothing stops people from breaking into a store or a house to pick out a gun and shoot one of the few remaining people.

Welcome to reality, my friends. You may have survived the plague, but now let's see if you survive Round Two.

Pausing in mid-roll of a fellow police officer that Shiloh knew very well, he hesitated before continuing moving the officer out of stepping range, sighing some. "Lake went up to New York. His brother was sick." Shiloh stood up and moving to another body -- moving them out of the way kept him busy, plus, it would keep other people from stepping on them, and possibly show that there are other survivors out there if anyone who had lost hope showed up after he and Jared left.

"He was supposed to call me every day. They just...stopped after a while." Shiloh shrugged some, looking at Jared. "I'll stick around here for a little while longer -- just in case he comes back. My sister, well, I don't know where she is. As awful as it sounds, I don't think she'll be coming back -- being a nurse and all, and around sick people. But after a few days..."

The cop fixed his messenger bag some, then pulled the gun out of his jeans checking the magazine -- for what reason, he didn't know, he hadn't shot anything. "I'm going to New York. If he's...." he couldn't get the four little letters out, "...I just want to see it for myself." Putting the magazine back in place, he lowered the gun. "...ready when you are."

Jared sighed, nodding slightly. "And I came down here 'cause my family was sick, too. New York is a big city... maybe I just didn't see him." He said, trying to offer the little bit of hope Shiloh had left. He had also started to move officers out of the way, setting them all side by side. Instead of choosing to roll them, he picked them up under the arms and dragged them. One female officer he simply carried over there.

Personally, Jared doubted that Lake was alive. He, yet again like most of his feelings, never let that show. He smiled slightly at Shiloh after he spoke to ensure the hope. "I just don't think I can go with you. I know we're supposed to stick together, but... unless I think there's a real threat," he patted the chest of a (very fat) male officer he was crouching next to, "and he starts walkin' and yellin' 'brains', I think I'll stay here or move to where there's real life."

"I have nothing left up there, and it's bad enough seein' these guys." Jared sighed. "Some of the faces I recognize but for the most part, I don't know them. Being around the bodies of people who've saved my life countless times... I mean, I gotta keep my composure, you know what I mean?" He teased slightly. "Seriously, what would you think of me if you saw me bawlin' like a baby?" He grinned as if it weren't currently affecting him simply thinking about that.

Shiloh smiled some and chuckled, shaking his head. "Picturing you bawling like a baby is like getting a fat man on a treadmill. Just too damn hard." He adjusted the strap of his messenger bag. "Don't worry about coming along, you stay here in Pennsylvania, I understand that, no problem. Besides, I'm not going anywhere for another week or so."

He held some doubt in his mind that Lake wasn't...and he felt that Jared knew that too. Shiloh just didn't want to give up...or didn't want to face the possible truth.

Shiloh shuddered a little violently. "Guh! I'm getting freaked out, let's hurry up and get out before they go all Resident Evil on our asses!" He said with a small smile and headed towards the door, his gun in his hand ready to fire when need be.

"Good. That means I've reached my goal in life. I'm too manly to cry." He joked. Jared sighed, feeling a little guilty. Maybe he'd go with Shiloh... he'd think about it. He had a week to mull it over.

Jared chuckled and rolled his eyes. "Right, Resident Evil. Can't forget. He said, walking towards the door, stopping when he reached it. He turned around, looking out at the dead officers. His eyes scanned over the badges on the sheet, and he sighed once more.

Shiloh smiled some, and stood outside, waiting for Jared. "...they were good guys. I liked working with them." He sighed a little. "But...as my goofy parents would say, they're all in a better place."

...maybe it wasn't so bad. Putting his hope towards a better life on 'the other side'. He wasn't sure how long he was going to survive this one.

"Let's go. I'm starved!" Shiloh said, trying to keep his spirits up. Though, how he would manage to keep it that way in such a desolate world, he had no idea.
