In September of 2004, Market Finder at LJ was born as a way for writers who use LJ to find paying markets for their work. While there are other market communities on LJ, most of them are for specific genres, MF is not. MF has been a community for paying markets for shorts and poetry in all genres.

Until now.

With the opening of the MF forums, we're expanding MF to cover all markets, even those that don't pay, and all lengths of work. In this new community you will find listings for agents as well as book publishers. And, just as we're opening to all markets, we are expanding beyond LJ to make ourselves accessible. All writers are welcome, regardless of genre.


However, as with all communities, there needs to be a few rules.

1. Only validated members may start new posts; visitors are restricted to viewing only. Because of a recent bout of spam, only members can post and reply.

2. SPAMMERS & SPAM POSTS ARE DELETED IMMEDIATELY. This forum is moderated and watched carefully. Spam is NOT tolerated.

3. Writers are welcome to post information and updates on markets. New markets should be posted according to the guidelines found in the General Info forum to keep listings consistent. Updates may be posted as a reply to a particular market's thread.

4. No actual writing by authors should be posted on these forums. We are not a workshop. You can find some helpful groups listed in the The Workshop forums.

5. This is to be a safe community for all writers of all ages, religions, races, etc. Flaming and personal attacks will NOT be tolerated. Members who persist in such behavior will be removed from the community. Tolerance is the key. If nothing else, agree to disagree.

6. Because we cannot verify that visitors will all be adults, language must be kept appropriate.

These rules will be adjusted as necessary, but we do not wish to restrict our community members all that much. Treat each other and this community with respect, that's all we ask.
