Atsuo’s generally very relaxed and up for a laugh, though he worries about his siblings (and about Addison & the baby once his plot reaches that point). He’s available for friendships, and the occasional enemy-ship (does that even exist? xD) though he tries to be as nice as he can to everyone. You’re likely to meet him on the beach, in the music shop where he works, or in a bar of any evening.

Roleplay sample: Stifling a yawn, Atsuo glanced up at the calendar on the wall of his apartment’s kitchenette. May fifteenth – a year to the day since he and Melanie had broken up. He’d wanted to stay friends, but she wouldn’t have any of it; he’d not heard from her except a short message on facebook wishing him a happy Christmas. A wave of melancholy drifted across him. It didn’t do to dwell on the past. He had the future to live in.

A small clock perched atop the fridge-freezer buzzed nine a.m., reminding Atsuo that, were it not a Sunday, he would have just half an hour until the start of his shift in a small guitar shop. He slumped back against the wall, his mood morose. Everything was so hopeless. Relationships were hopeless – he was realistic; he’d never expected Melanie to be The One, but he’d loved her anyway, and it still hurt with a dull ache whenever he thought of her. College was hopeless also. He’d got a degree in mechanical engineering, but other than working in a garage – a job for which Atsuo didn’t have the required enthusiasm for cars – it was a qualification that could lead him nowhere. And work was hopeless. Working half past nine until almost eight p.m. six days a week in a small shop that stood no chance of expanding, and teaching guitar lessons on the side, he earned enough to keep a roof over the heads of he and his brother, and could put food on the table, but there was little reward in either job. At least he had his music.

Acting on habit, Atsuo dressed quickly and quietly, rushing, as he would usually have to allow himself at least ten minutes to get to work. Stood before his bedroom mirror, he styled his hair hurriedly, applying his customary trace amounts of make-up and slipping a small black ring through the piercing in the corner of his lip. He smiled wanly at his reflection, only partially instilling cheeriness and confidence.

Thank goodness it’s Sunday. He only gave one lesson on a Sunday, and that wasn’t until half three in the afternoon, which gave him some time to relax in the morning, something that Atsuo was grateful of that morning. It meant that he could sit on the balcony, eat a proper breakfast, have a laugh winding up his brother... just unwind, and hopefully, take his mind off Melanie.

Slipping into a pair of flip-flops, Atsuo poured himself a small bowl of cereal and stepped out onto the apartment's balcony. It was too small to hold much more furniture than a table and two chairs, and it didn't offer anything special by way of a view, but it was refreshing in the morning. The early summer day was warm, a cool breeze snaking between the buildings. A few birds perched nearby, eyeing his breakfast with beady eyes. Atsuo smiled at them. He liked birds; they didn't liked everyone equally, provided there was somethign to catch their interest. If he'd had toast, he would have sprinkled some crumbs for them, but he didn't, so he couldn't.

A noise from inside made Atsuo start. He guessed it was Akio, making an effort to rise at the same time as the rest of the world, though that was improbable. More likely, his brother was un-subtly trying to sneak a lover out of the apartment, without attractng attention. Atsuo smirked to himself, contemplating creeping back inside so that he could 'catch his brother in the act'. After a moment of thought, though, he decided against it. He could just ask his brother if everything was alright, without having to move.

"Hey Loverboy! Everything ok in there?"

Notes: He will end up in a relationship with Addison Ilyitch, though that plot hasn’t started yet. He also smokes, and owns two cats.
