Amaya walked down the road, hands in the pockets in her shorts. The light drizzle fell around her, but it didn’t add a mood or anything. The constant humidity was something she was used to. Forks, Washington was her hometown; the drizzle was nothing out of place. What was out of the ordinary was seeing a teenage girl walking down the road in the middle of school hours. In a small town, anyone who even thought about cutting school would get caught. But she didn’t care. She was ridiculously ill, and couldn’t spend one more hour looking at her ex-boyfriend or talking to an obnoxious cheerleader.
Maybe it hadn’t been the brightest idea to cut school now. Amaya and her dad were already having a hard time talking to each other. It was just a horrible situation. How many teenagers can claim their boyfriend fell in love with their father? Not many. Even further, how many shape-shifter children can claim that their boyfriend imprinted on their father? Even fewer. In a stupid way, Amaya was relieved. Her father was a major flirt, making quite a bit of Forks the object of his interest. But since he and Mitsu had begun seeing each other, Connelly had begun to be faithful. It meant she didn’t have to drag him home from his teacher’s house, or drive to Port Angeles and pick up her mildly drunk father. It was… freeing.
Still, Amaya was spoiling in jealousy. Her father always, always turned heads, so when she finally got who she wanted, she expected to keep him. Wouldn’t you know it, she lost him to her father too. In the end, she knew she would eventually get over it. Akimitsu Moreau was a great guy, but he wasn’t worth the time she was giving him. Plus, there was nothing she could do about an imprint. Of course, Amaya had taken a while to figure it out, and by then, she’d already made a big, stupid mistake…
Amaya panted heavily, pushing herself against him, shoving him onto her bed. She kissed his neck, lowering down into his chest. This was so wrong, so very wrong. But she had to do it. She had to feel like she’d had him just once. If she was going to live the rest of her life with this man as her father’s boyfriend, she was going to have to convince herself that for just one night, she was in control. She wrapped her arms around Mitsu’s bare body, pushing him down into the mattress.
“Mmm…. Maya…. Maya. Amaya, this is wrong. You know I love… Maya, Maya, can you stop kissing my chest. A-may-a, listen to me-oh!” Mitsu’s pleading was cut short by Amaya’s kiss, planted squarely on his neck. She licked the crevice between his jaw and neck. Mitsu gave up, giving in to his urges and kissed her back. Amaya lowered her shorts to the floor and ‘helped’ Mitsu out of his own pants. She pulled the sheets over their heads and kissed him again, letting him wrap his arm around her hips.
Amaya, suddenly overcome by a wave of nausea, stopped on the side of the road, and retched. She did this three more times before stopping to pull out her pink cell phone, flipping it open. She scrolled through the A’s, finding what she was looking for. Aunt Lily. She hit call and waited patiently as the phone rang. Since her father had reestablished contact with their family, Amaya had kept all their numbers, just in case she needed something or needed someone to talk to. Aunt Lily, Aunt Allie, Aunt Kamili, Uncle Daiki… They were all ecstatic to get to know her.
The phone clicked, and she immediately blurted out “Aunt Lily, it’s me, Amaya… I need you to come pick me up. I, uh… I also need you to take me to the gas station. I need to get something. I’m on Main Street.”

we are broken - -W H A T M U S T W E D O T O R E S T O R E- - our innocenceLily had been pacing around the small town of Forks, anxious to find something to do that would occupy her mind. The town brought ‘oh so many memories’ to the forefront of Lily’s mind, and since returning to Forks, it seemed that she would never escape such memories. Lily had given up on writing for the day. She already had enough morbid and angst filled stories written to last a lifetime. She sighed in frustration and as soon as the small sound emitted from her mouth, her phone rang. She answered the phone on the first ring, grateful to have a distraction from her thoughts.
“Hello Amaya dear, I’m glad you called me. Of course I’ll come pick you up. I’m nearby so it should not take me long, maybe a couple of minutes? Are you alright?” she answered, responding to everything her niece had said. Lily used her vampire super speed in order to quickly reach her destination. The phone never left her phone as she did this. When she was within eyeshot of her niece she hung up her cell phone and finger combed her hair in an attempt to ensure that it had not been moused up by the wind. She wanted to make a good impression on Amaya by seeming hip with the times. Though Lily appeared to be a teenager she was really much older than she looked. This was what caused her to be self conscious over how her niece would perceive her. Lily was wearing a black shirt and a black vest with a pattern of silver sequences embroidered across it. She also wore tight white jeans which were tucked into black buckled boots. She also wore a thick silver necklace and several bracelets. The ensemble was topped off with a classy black hat that adorned Lily’s head.
Lily studied Amaya, with her head tilted slightly to the side. Now that she was in the girl’s presence she could tell that her niece felt sick, based on her appearance alone. “What is wrong, honey?” she inquired, trying to figure out what was bothering her niece. She was well aware that the girl should be in school and while she planned to question the teen about it, she had already decided that would come later. She knew that if she nagged Amaya upon first seeing her, the girl would become guarded and temporarily resent her for it. It was far wiser to earn her niece’s trust and gently chastise her after she had been helpful. She had been a teenager once herself, and she realized that a person’s reaction was influenced by the approach one chose when dealing with them. “Hello Amaya dear, I’m glad you called me. Of course I’ll come pick you up. I’m nearby so it should not take me long, maybe a couple of minutes? Are you alright?” her Aunt Lily asked as hurriedly as Amaya had rushed out.
Amaya had only a few moments to wait, but it was agony nonetheless. She was under tremendous pressure now. The weight of the way her whole family, even her new family, looked at her and her father would depend on the outcome of… Amaya couldn’t even bear to think about the words. No doubt, she already knew what the outcome would be. She’d been irrational and cranky lately, and she was constantly felling ill. Amaya could probably guess the outcome, but was optimistic, as she usually was. She was told that she was like her mother that way. She was like her mother in a lot of ways, or so people said.
Amaya was mildly startled when she turned around and found her aunt. Although her Aunt Lily was actually about twice her age, she only looked about a year older. Due to Amaya’s appearance, which was similar to her mother, Abby’s, Lily and her looked like they could be sisters. Lily had a good, however unique, sense of style. She had cute clothes, even her fifteen year old niece had to admit that. She just always looked so insecure in them. Either way, Amaya absolutely loved how Aunt Lily dressed, even though it was very different from her own wardrobe.
“What is wrong, honey?” Lily inquired. Normally she would have rolled her eyes a little and smiled at the ‘honey’. But now, she needed to be comforted, and her aunt being affectionate to her would be a great start.
Amaya uncomfortably wrapped her arm around her side, clutching her pink, baggy shirt. She trembled a little, but kept her voice level. “I’m feeling kind of sick. Dad’s out hunting with Uncle Daiki. I’m a little afraid to let them hold weapons near each other,” Amaya tried to joke a little, but it came out sad. She cleared her throat and half-smiled at Lily. “I just need to stop and get something for my… illness… on the way home. The gas station’s just a block this way,” Amaya told her, beginning to lead her to the gas station.
When they arrived, she hastily scurried away from her aunt. Maybe Lily was forever a teenage girl, but she was still close to her dad, and she didn’t need to know her prognosis if it wasn’t positive… But she had such an urge to empty her soul to her. She felt drawn to her, maybe through a bond of some sort. She decided that she would tell her, as soon as she was done. She paid for what she needed and left to the restroom, telling Lily she would be right back. She did what she needed to do. When she waited, and waited, and stared in to the mirror. What if her assumptions were right? What would it do to her relationship with her dad, or really her entire family?
57… 58… 59… 60… Amaya Moons-Wilks swallowed hard. She took a trembling hand and turned over the test. A bright pink plus showed. She squeezed her eyes shut. High school, college, a normal life, they all went down the drain with one stupid move. One stupid, jealous, incident. Her eyes flew open. She clutched the bathroom counter. No, she would make the best of this. She always did. She carefully opened the door and walked over to Lily. She gripped the test tightly and smiled at Lily.
“Aunt Lily, how old was my mom when she found out she was pregnant with me?” Amaya asked shakily. She was certain Lily had an inkling of what was going on with her niece.

Allie lay on her stomach on her bed with her laptop open, her ankles crossed in the air. Lightly she hummed along to one of her favorite songs by Ayumi Hamasaki trying to drown out the gentle patter of rain that was falling over the La Push reservation in Washington just outside of a small town called Forks. Forks where her brother Connelly lived and that was where her other brother was Daiki was now. It had made her angry to no end when she found out he was going to go visit him while she had to stay here. Why couldn’t she go too? Just thinking about it made her sigh with annoyance and she shut down iTunes before powering down her computer. She closed the lap top and slid it back into its case and left it on her bed. She slid off the comforter and stretched her long wavy hair reaching to the small of her back. Allie looked out the window; pushing the delicate white curtain aside to see rain drops splattered all over the window running tracks down the glass. “It never stops raining here” she murmured to herself since no one else was there to listen. She ran her thin fingers through her hair and went to her dresser pulling open the top drawer to pick a shirt to wear. She put her hands on her hips not sure what to put on today. It was too rainy and wet for a dress, too cool for shorts so it looked like it was going to be pants.
Allie pulled out a white thick strapped tank top with a turtle neck and a pair of dark wash jeans. She ran a brush through her chocolaty wavy hair before slipping on her sneakers. She grabbed up her phone off the desk, the long beaded charm dangled as she put it in her back pocket and headed downstairs. Daiki had told her not to leave the house which had added to her annoyance for not being able to go see Connelly. She could leave the house if she wanted to and if he came home and she wasn’t there well that was too bad. Allie stood there with her hand on the door knob and she bit her lip. Guilt swelled through her, she didn’t want to make Daiki made she loved her brother with all her heart and the last thing she wanted to do was make him angry with her. Her hand slipped from the door knob and she sat in the kitchen chair with an exasperated sigh.
She didn’t want to sit in the house all day and do nothing. It felt like that she did that enough as it is while Daiki was always with Kamili or working. Allie only had two good friends and they had gone away with their parents so it wasn’t like she could spend time with them or even call them. A smile lit up her face and reached her round eyes when she thought of something. Maybe I’ll visit Lily or Amaya it had been awhile since she had spent time with her vampire relative and human niece. Surely Daiki couldn’t get upset if she was spending time with family…right? Allie kept telling herself that as she wrote him a note and snapped it to the fridge with a flower magnet she had painted when she was just a child. A soft smile played on her lips as she looked at the pictures on the fridge. There was one with her and Daiki, he was pushing her on a swing when she was just very tiny and she guessed it was Kamili taking the picture. There was also one of her and Kamili, her brother’s imprints curly hair took up half the picture and they were both laughing. One of Allies favorites was one of her and both Connelly and Daiki. It was one of the few pictures she had of her older brother Connelly and it made her sad that she couldn’t have gone to visit him today. She pushed the thought aside, grabbed her set of the house key and headed out the door locking it behind her hoping that Daiki would understand.
Allie wiped off the seat of her bike as best as she could before hopping on and biking towards Forks. It was long but she was strong enough to do it, she had done it hundreds of times over the years during the summer. The road was familiar and full of wonderful, fresh smells and the rain made it smell all the more cleaner. It was long before the tiny town of Forks came into view and she looked around thinking in the back of her mind she might see Connelly. As she biked down the street though, a familiar scent hit her nose. Two actually and she turned in that direction which was leading her towards a gas station. Her assumptions were right it was Lily and Amaya. A smile lit up her face “Lily! Amaya!” she called before laughing lightly she had never been happier to see them she could use their company it would nice spending time with them. She hopped of her bike as she neared and walked up to them, her hands staying on the handle bars to balance the bike. When she approached something was wrong, Amaya didn’t seem well. Was she getting sick? “Amaya, sweet heart, are you feeling ok? You look a little pale”

we are broken - -W H A T M U S T W E D O T O R E S T O R E- - our innocenceLily could tell that Amaya’s joke was only half hearted and she carefully noted the voice inflection of her niece. She was a little concerned but was not sure how to properly express her concern. Instead of saying something that would doubtlessly seem awkward, Lily offered the girl a small smile, pretending for the moment that everything was all right, even though her intuition was clearly telling her otherwise.
Lily took in Amaya’s words and though she was definitely curious and noticed the fact that her niece took care to keep her words vague, she once again refrained for prying. Instead she walked with her to the gas station in silence, and allowed the girl to lead her there, pacing her step so that it fell just a little behind that of her niece. When they reached the gas station Amaya appeared eager to get away from her aunt and Lily gave the girl her space, not wanting to overstep her boundaries and come across as overbearing. When Amaya emerged from the bathroom holding up a pregnancy test and inquiring about the age at which her mother had gotten pregnant, Lily’s golden eyes clearly showed her surprise, though they were obscured by her dark and chunky sunglasses. Lily’s eyes were almost always covered by one of the many darkly tinted pairs of glasses she owned, because could trust her every emotion to flash across them. Lily tried to mentally do the math in her head, though her dates were a bit hazy due to the lengthy amount of time she had spent away from her family, traveling. She had tried her hardest not to dwell on her previous human life while on her own, though she had failed on most accounts. “She was a year older than me so, if I remember correctly, she was seventeen--possibly eighteen,” Lily answered, hoping that her mental calendar was accurate.
It was not long after Lily had answered Amaya’s question to the best of her ability, that Allie had arrived and was greeting the duo. Lily put her lightening like reflexes to good use and positioned herself in front of the arm in which Amaya held up the pregnancy test stick, attempting to partially obscure the girl, or at least that half of her body from sight. Lily was not one to condone secretive behavior, but she wanted to talk to Amaya and help her get things sorted out before she engaged anyone else in a conversation about what the girl had just divulged to her. If Amaya wanted to continue the conversation they had been having, in front of Allie then that was fine. However, Lily wanted the decision to be Amaya’s and Amaya’s alone, not a course of action that was forced upon her. “Hello Allie,” Lily greeted with a weak smile, not quite able to act as if nothing was out of the ordinary. She glanced at Amaya, waiting to see how the girl would respond to Allie’s well intended but ill timed question. Status: complete Words: 508 Outfit: THIS Note: my apologies for the wait. Amaya waited patiently as Lily ran through dates in her head, though she couldn't shake the surprised look she'd seen in Lily's eyes. It was burned, engraved into her memory. What would it be like when she told Mitsu? When she told her Aunt Allie and Aunt Kamili? What would it be like when she told her Dad? Amaya imagined the pain on his face, the betrayal. She imagined the hatred. She couldn't do that to him, couldn't break him like that. How could she, after she'd already betrayed him so much?
“She was a year older than me so, if I remember correctly, she was seventeen--possibly eighteen,” Aunt Lily spoke up suddenly. Amaya's eyes tightened. She was so much younger than her mom was. She was younger than her dad was. How could she hope to have anyone on her side?
Trembling and shaking nervously, Amaya rested a hand on the shelves next to her to steady herself. The world was spinning around her, and she felt the most overwhelming feeling to throw up, though she attributed that to the little plus sign in her hand. She wanted nothing more than to be able to curl up into a ball and cry. Tears were already welling up in her eyes.
"Lily! Amaya!" a familiar, high-pitched voice called. Amaya's head darted over to see her Aunt Allie laughing and running towards them. She smiled a little. Allie was so enthusiastic. Then Allie's face fell and she remembered why she was upset.
“Amaya, sweet heart, are you feeling okay? You look a little pale.” Amaya nodded. She righted herself, standing tall. Lily suddenly moved between the two, and Amaya blinked. The two moved so quickly, she could hardly see any movement. Lily greeted Allie a bit weakly, a terrible liar. Amaya herself had never had such a problem. Clearly.
"It's alright, Lily. Allie can hear this, too. She deserves to. Just... don't hate me, okay?" Amaya sighed and stepped around Aunt Lily to where Allie was involved in the conversation too. Shakily, she looked down, holding her own hands. Her voice shook a little. "I-I... I think I might be pregnant." Her breathing halted. "I'm two weeks late, I'm nauseous all the time, and my chest feels like it's collapsing in on itself. I-I just wanna figure out what's wrong." She took a deep breath and forced herself to look at her aunts' reaction. She stifled a nervous giggle. Aunt Kamili, and then the gang would be all here. All her aunts ushering her into her house to tell her dad and her Uncle Daiki. The thought was suddenly appealing to her. She shook it away. Time to focus.
