devon campbell is an interesting person. she likes to have fun, but she's know to be a tight ass most of the time. what? it's the truth. her mother raised her to be a proper young lady, even though it took her awhile to get to the proper part. of course, with close friends, she has dorky moments and sometimes even eccentric moments. she loves helping people, but she isn’t into people helping her. devon can be the simplest person in the world and the most confusing person ever. she’s got to have control over every aspect of her life and it’s incredibly hard for her to let go of anything. now don’t get her confused, she doesn’t like to have control over people, just herself. let’s say she’s moving into a new flat, yes? amara will not ask for any help when she moves. also, devon is a big perfectionist. everything has to be right or her world crumbles. scary, huh?

when you first meet devon, she's very quiet and shy. wary of other people. she puts up a high wall, so that no one can get in. that's how she works. once you get to know her and you pry her away from her books and her music, which is what keeps her from interacting with people other than her group of friends, she's very loyal. does that mean that devon sucks at relationships? no, in fact, she'd like to have one, but it doesn't look like she'll be getting it anytime soon. she's constantly beating herself up because relationships never work for her, so she locks her true self away most times, leaving herself on auto pilot around most people.

she’s also a very caring person. devon will help anyone in need, as long as she knows them and they’re not crazy. hey, she was raised that way. you could say that devon is the “mama bear” of her group of friends. she can’t help it. you walk into devon’s house, expect to get a plate of food, watch a dvd and feel at home. she likes helping people and will do anything to help. but sometimes her caring too much will get her into trouble. she will sometimes carry other people’s problems on her shoulders, which isn’t too good for her.

devon campbell was born to thomas and alanna campbell june 25th. she was their first child and you could say that she was a bit… unexpected. her father was an english professor at vassar colege in poughkeepsie, new york and her mother was a free lance journalist at the local paper. at the time, the campbells were living with thomas’s mother. it was a bit lonely, because her grandmother lived in this huge manor with stables. devon loved it, though.

so, once devon turned six, her mother got pregnant with her younger brother joshua. the campbells finally moved out of mrs. campbell’s manor, and it was awkward for devon to get used to a smaller house. no, her grandmother didn’t have maids and butlers waiting on her granddaughter hand and foot, but she missed the horses. besides, her mother would never let something like that go to her head.

once devon started middle school, things began to get a little harder for the family. her mother wasn’t working at the time because she had joshua to take care of, and she was pregnant with twins. everything was strained at the house. unbeknownst to the children in the house, thomas was having an affair. oh, alanna knew he was cheating on her from the very first time he stayed at work late and he didn’t look her in the eye. she just wasn’t about to break up her family, so she kept her mouth shut.

well, while alannah was keeping things bottled up, so was devon. she was confused about who she was as a person. her mother was white and her father was black. so what was devon? she was so confused about everything that was happening. and then her mother got pregnant. again. so, when she was thirteen, her mother had the twins. their names were edward jeremy and isabella marie campbell. by then, though, things were already strained enough.

well, alannah thought they needed a new start. so, they decided to move to aylett, virginia. why? because devon closed her eyes and picked that place on a map. her father became a high school english teacher and her mother wrote for the newspaper now and then, to bring in extra money. at first, devon did not like aylett. it was a small town and she didn’t know anyone! so, for her very first years of high school, devon was quite a loner. well, until she met the kitas. you couldn’t go through life in aylett without meeting them. devon went to high school with sully and jacoby and ended up dating jacoby. fun stuff.

devon graduated at the top of her class and got accepted to the university of chicago. so, off she went to chicago and got her undergraduate degree. by then, devon had decided that she wanted to be a doctor. she went to medical school at johns hopkins and got her medical degree. but then a few months ago, it happened. her father died. so, fresh out of medical school, devon decided to move back down to aylett. her mother never really held a permanent job and josh was going to college, so she had to help out, right? devon got a job at the local hospital and moved into a small apartment. you had to help out your family. you just had to.
