welcome!

life in a small town is never as quaint and simple as it seems. there's always someone with a secret and always trouble to be found. why should aylett be any different?

welcome to aylett, virginia. a rural community with only one school for each grade level for the entire county, it's mostly farm land and country stores. there's a problem with the crime rate, though. no, no inner city problems. drugs and domestic violence seem to really reign supreme, here, and two local gangs like to clash for power in the county.

can the police keep the citizens of this quiet little county safe or will they fall to the crime and disorder that seems to be threatening their peaceful existence. only you can make that decision while you search for a lifeline.

"Ugh, I don't need this," she groaned as the keys jingled and were thrust into the lock of the door. She was running late, tired, and it was going to be one hot day. On top of it all, her keys didn't want to turn the lock! "Please?" She pulled on the handle and then tried the keys, again. Finally, the lock gave and she was able to open the door. Rushing through, Maiara spun around and locked the door. It wasn't time to open just yet. Breezing through the hall and into the herbal room, she made her way into the candle room and behind the register. She dropped her purse under the desk and turned on the computer and loaded the music. A quick run through of the inventory and the drawer and the computer was ready, She put in her order for the week and went about getting the paper work straight. "Okay, preliminaries are done... Electricity waits until the locks come off... Fish!" Breezing through the rooms and back to the front door, she passed into the other room on the other side of the hall and to the giant fish tank. "Hello, boys." Leaning down, she made a few faces at the Koi in the tank and grabbed the food from the shelf below. She sprinkled in the flakes and took a look around the room to make sure that she didn't have to do anything in there before the doors opened.

Onto the fairy room! Mai turned on the fountains and lights and lit a small censor of incense with a murmured prayer of blessing for the day. With a sigh, she walked to the circuit breaker and flipped a couple of switches. As she went to unlock the front door, Maiara began to hum a tune her grandmother had often sung to her. She flipped the closed sign around on the door and bounced off into the store. At least it was cooler in here than what it was outside. Maiara disappeared into the back long enough to grab a few vials and the oils. Sitting down at the register's counter, she started to make tiny jars of essential oils. After each one, she paused to put a sticker with the proper name on the jar and started humming as she worked. She didn't whistle, sorry. "Oh," she murmured and picked up her phone and dialed a number. Waiting for someone to pick up the other line. "Curtis, hey. I almost forgot, the vet is coming over to look over the cut on Day's leg. He's supposed to be over around three so just a head's up. Yeah, thanks. Did we need anything else at the house? Alright. No, no, I'll get it on the way home." She looked up as the bell for the front door sounded. "I've got to go, I'll see you later. Bye." Maiara rushed off of the phone and called out to the unseen being. "Hello!"
