The first born, Leigh Ann grew up with the complex that she was to be the example, and do everything right. Everything by the book, and prove herself to her family and younger sister. In the end, her complex to gain a 4.0 cost Leigh Ann much in the way of socializing.

When meeting her, you will find that Leigh Ann is usually quiet and cold. Observant of others, as if she is trying to decipher them. Everyone is a puzzle to Leigh, along with life. She's grow up with police work in the blood. And it's a bit of bad habit. But, once she gets to know you, and finds trust in you, she is warm and loyal. A maternal figure that likes to help out others, if she can. She is very devoted to her career and son.

If she does not trust you, Leigh Ann can seem very harsh. And one might decide that she is a very unfriendly sort. She is perhaps overly protective of her son, Danny. Especially around others, and rarely goes out. Even though she has her mother to help take care of him in town.

Other then her son, police work is her life. She is a very determined woman who graduated at the top of her class from the police academy. Like a blood hound, Leigh is finds her work an intrigueing puzzle and can't get assignments out her head or her dreams. She wants to solve them, no matter the obstacle, no matter whats given to her. She'll figure it out. Leigh is very thankful for her new partner, Flores. The woman is like a pittbull, just as determined to make a name for herself, and become an unbeatable team.

Leigh Ann was born in a Boston, to a family of upper middle class background. Her father a police man, her mother a teacher. They seemed the simple every day perfect family. Perhaps, too much so. For it pushed Leigh Ann on a drive to try and be everything her family wanted her to be. She was the perfect pupil, the careful and tending big sister, and tomboy. Much of her world pretty much revolved around books, athletics, family, and her father's police department. Leigh was her father's shadow. Joe had never had a son, but it seemed Leigh filled much of those shoes. And he was proud of his daughter.

Growing up in a police family, Leigh Ann immediately entered the police academy after High School. She pushed hard, fought to be recognized as good as, or even better then the guys. Leigh earned their respect. Her scores high, her will and drive impressing those around her. No one could be more proud then her father when Leigh joined the Boston Police Department.

Leigh was twenty five, and fell in love with the very charismatic Ryan Canady. Ryan swept Leigh Ann off her feet, with his love of the outdoors. It was hard to manage their time together, with Leigh's police work and Ryan's travels for business as a prominate lawyer. But, when they found the time they were often hiking, fishing, and camping.

When Leigh Ann and Ryan finally decided to marry, she was twenty eight. It wasn't easy, the times being seperated from Ryan's traveling career. This time was made easier by the birth of their son, Daniel. With Ryan away, at least Leigh Ann had a piece of Ryan with her always.

It was because of Ryan, that Leigh had moved to Virginia. As he wanted to set up an office 'away from things'. Everything started out wonderful. Leigh got a job with the Aylett Police Department. They bought a house together in a lovely older neighborhood. Everything seemed as close to fine as possible.

Until two years ago, when Leigh Ann received a notary letter that Ryan asked for a divorce. He had found somone who could travel with him, make him more apart of his life. Someone who would focus on his career, and not her own. The other woman just happened to be his personal assistant, a twenty five year old red head just out of Harvard.

Leigh is doing her best to put him in her past. After the death of her father, her mother has moved to Aylett and helps take care of Danny while Leigh is at work. She is even more determined to be the best. Not changing for anyone ever, she'd prove to her son, mother, and peers that she could do it all. Or maybe, that was prove it to herself.

Scattered papers rested over one side of the couch. A number two pencil held clutched between her teeth, as fingers quickly flew over the white macbook on her lap. She studied the maps of the hills just north of town. Looking for any changes in buildings, roads, over the last ten years. Somewhere, she was sure there was a clue, some hint, to just where this gang had moved and began hiding their weapons.

Not far from her a little toe headed boy with curly blonde hair ran over the wood floor and braided rug in circles about the coffee table. His small hand in the air, as his airplane flew about the room in a chaotic path set by some errant ground control officer. The engine noise sounded through buzzing lips, little sounds that almost sounded more like a growl then a plane.

A crash sounded. And soon papers flew, and the macbook was shoved without a though to the side, nearly tumbling to the floor. Bare feet met the wood floor, as Leigh Ann rushed to her son, "Danny!"

She slid on jean covered knees, picking him up and swiftly going over possible injuries. Other then a surprised face, there wasn't anything that the quickly smoothing fingerstips that rushed over his cheeks and through his tossle of curls could find. Just a tumbled fan now lay unplugged from the wall the only other sign there had been a crash.

With her heart thudding, Leigh Ann pulled the confused three year old tightly to her body. She kissed his temple through the soft silky hair. Closing her eyes, Leigh Ann could hear the thrum of her blood pressure beating in her ears. There was a little squirming, calling her attention back to her son. Muscles relaxed, and she slowly allowed him to push out of her arms and back to search for his crashed airplane.

Leigh Ann took a slow long breath, as she remained on her knees watching Danny once again 'fly' through the livingroom with his plane. It would take a little bit to get back on her own feet, and 'fly' off to her work. She just needed to watch him. To know he was okay. And he was still here with her.
