Was it just her Angela, or or was the hatching late. So far, she had avoided the hatching grounds, not wanting to anger the clutch's mother, but today she decided was the day to finally see them. Besides, she wanted to check on them, just to make sure they were still there. Maybe she'd missed the hatching without meaning to.
However, when Angela reached the black sands, there they were - all the beautiful little eggs. It seemed a large clutch. Angela wasn't sure how large a clutch. All she knew was there was more eggs than she has fingers and toes.
Angela stood back in the hatching sands entrance, admiring the beautiful eggs. The eggs were all kinds of colours; blues, browns, reds...so many beautiful colours.
Filled with a sudden desire to touch the eggs, Angela hestitantly made her way towards the clutch. She kept a careful eye on the mother as she neared the clutch. Angela reached the clutch safely, and glanced around, unsure of which eggs she should touch first. She felt a strange pull towards an egg on the edge, though it was dangerously close to the gold.
Fearing the wrath of the large dragon, Angela reached out a hand towards the egg that seemed to be calling to her...

Tianeth had known the instant that somebody entered the hatching grounds. She had seen all of the candidates through Maira and the girl that entered was one of them. As it wasn't hatching time Tianeth wasn't as viciously protective as she could have been. Instead of snapping and snarling and demanding the girl leave immediately, Tianeth just watched quietly to see what the girl would do.
When the girl approached the eggs Tianeth's tail began to twitch, though whether it was nerves or aggitation even Tianeth wasn't sure. After a moment, it seemed the girl had found one particular egg of interest to her and went straight toward it. That's when Tianeth couldn't hold back any more. <<Maira, stop her please, its not time,>> she begged her rider who had been sitting in the stands watching the scene below her play out. >>Of course my love,<< Maira answered as she got up and made her way down to the sands.
"Angela dear, Tianeth would like it if you stay clear of the eggs for now," she called as she went. When she got to the bottom, she went to the girl's side and put a hand on her shoulder to gently stall her from getting any closer to the eggs. "Soon we will have a day where you and the other candidates can touch the eggs but its not today." Hoping she hadn't hurt the girl's feelings, the WW watched her closely for her reaction.

Angela jerked back as if burned when a voice gentle reprimanded her, and a gentle hand fell on her shoulder.
"Soon we will have a day where you and the other candidates can touch the eggs but its not today," the person who had stopped Angela said.
Angela spun, dreading who she would see. She had a feeling that is it was the Candidatemaster, she was about to die. Instead she found herself face to face with the Weyrwoman.
"Oh, my," she exclaimed, "I'm so sorry, Weyrwoman. I didn't mean...I just wanted to have a lock. I'm so sorry. Please don't punish me. Please. Oh, and I'm sorry to you too, Tianeth."
Angela clapped her hands over her taitor mouth, realising she had breached ettiquette in adressing another's dragon. Angela wasn't sure what the Weyrwoman was like; she only seen her from a distance. but she knew that most people in power had no qualms about doling out punishements, left, right and centre. Angela smiled wanely, trying to show how sinscere her apology was.

"I'm not mad and neither is Tianeth," the Weyrwoman said, shaking her head. "Curiosity is a good trait in a dragon rider so long as one knows when to curb it. As for punisment for wanting to see the eggs, thats a very silly idea. All candidates sneak a peek eventually and many get snarled at by the brooding gold, luckily for you Tianeth is the most mild-mannered gold I have ever know." Angela followed the Weyrwoman's gaze to her beautiful gold, and Angela smiled as she saw the Queen's relaxed form.
"Well..." Angela started, unsure, "I'm glad I'm not being punished, anyway." She smiled at the Weyrwoman. She realised that she should leave the Weyrwoman in peace - it probably was against ettiquette to speak to the Weyrwoman in such an informal way - but Angela wanted to extend the conversation a little.
"Will they be hatching soon," she asked, indicating the eggs, unable to think of anything else to say. "They seem a touch bit late...but that's just me."
