Yeah, but keep in mind that they don't know what the hell their talking about. You've seen the Evolution MR vs the Impreza WR1, right? That was awful.

Specifically the FQ320 vs. the WR1 right? Yeah that was total crap. WR1 should've beaten it, but meh, the Stigster is used to FR cars. He did exceptionally well with the Enzo and MC12...although as of now, the MC12 is the fastest car they've ever driven on their personal track, with the Enzo in second.

    MC12 = 1m18.9s
    Enzo = 1m19.0s

Awfully close, but it makes sense, since they both share the same beasty engine.

Research research research research research. Always do research before touching a THING on your car. Talk to various 240sx users, talk to Nissan tuners who will definitely know what works well on your car, and what will kill it. Don't just go around throwing intakes and exhausts in there because that's what everybody else does.

I'm sorta tired of hearing a bunch of Honda owners brag about their exhaust systems, yet they don't know if they're getting any real power gains or what the modification even does. I don't want you falling into that pit trap. wink.gif

Actually I think a properly tuned Honda can be pretty sinister. A Civic can be a beasty car with some coilovers and a proper suspension tune. And the NSX has always been a favorite exotic, although sadly Honda is ending the NSX models. sad.gif

Yeah research is a good idea. Is your 'tuner' friend just a guy who sits in his garage 6 hours everyday playing with his car? Or is your tuner friend an actual professional who owns his own garage and has worked on enough Nissans to memorize the torque specs for every bolt and fastener? ninja.gif

Because there is a very fine difference between them. wink.gif

I'm not talking about picking up an import magazine and memorizing each and every spec, I'm talking about actually WORKING on Nissans, and having known from indepth experience what works well, what doesn't work so well, and what completely destroys your engine.

For example, a Manual Boost Controller on a Subaru without proper engine management, is one surefire way to destroy your motor. We have learned this from COUNTLESS of previous owners who installed these, and killed their motors due to running dangerously lean A/F ratios.

You won't find that in your local magazines.

Yeah SkylineHeaven ISnt Around and i am his "TUNER FRIEND" IMPORT TUNER IS BY FAR THE WORST MAGAZINE EVER and yes i know the Specs For most of the nissan cars only the ones that i work on and tune i hope that it doesnt come as a inconvience to u but i spend roughly 6.5 hours a day working on them this goes for the following cars when iam not in school

    FAIRLADY Z
    180SX 240SX RPS13 PS13 what u wanna call it!!!
    CS14
i also know what to put and what not to put on that truck engine the KA24 and the SR20DET and the RB20DET
Also not only do i know about tuning companies like HKS AND GREDDY
I can also tell u about GREX
    FUJITSUBO
    RG RACING GEAR
    FUJITA RACING
    BRIDE
    BLITZ
    KEI OFFICE
    KAKIMOTO RACING
    KAAZ
    KAZAMA RACING
    JUN
and those are to name a few.
i also know about weight distrobution in those cars when it comes to engine swaps.
it all started when i began watching video option 7yrs ago.
i dont mess with any other cars cuz i dont like them their not my style
i dont tune FF Cars and i dont tune AWD cars so dont sit up here and question my knowlege about nissan cars ELtrouble and u should respect other peoples knowlege your not the only one on this site that works on cars see i even work on Nissan cars for free thats how much i love them now u take a moment to think about that. happy.gif do u know how to tune that GDB of yours? and iam not talking about picking up a Import Tuner or Super Street Magazine and memorizing the specs verbatum.

cuz in my opinion the WRX is a AWD car that everyone buys in my neighborhood when they cant tune cars and they Blow up their civics and their Integras.

you should think twice about questioning someones knowlege about their cars and preferences! smile.gif
P.S. Anyone with a brain stem could tell u that without proper engine management with a manual boost controller can destroy your engine ............but who knows maybe they didnt do their homework
and jes slapped parts into their cars not knowing what the heck theyre doing.

and besides the other tuners that i know would NEVER do somethin that stupid.

Might as well reset or trash that whole ECU before even turning that car on or they should have used POWER FC but i dont suppose people dont know how to use that yet.

    DONT GET BURNED!!!

First of all...I'm not trashying on your 'preferences', I just want to make sure that Skyline has got someone with their head on right to help him out with his modifications and tuning. I'm sure you know that there ARE people out there who call themselves 'tuners' simply because they work on their own car.

But you seem educuated, so good for you and Skyline. I'm going to disagree with your comment about the WRX though. Sure we have a bunch of young kids who kill their WRX because they don't know how to drive, and don't know a damn thing about how a car operates, and how to do modifications, but there ARE some good tuners who work with Evos and WRXs and create beasts out of them.

The VAST VAST majority of people out there dont have common sense. They simply slap on car parts because everybody else has it. I have a lot of stories I can tell you about how people have screwed up their WRX engines by slapping on a CAI, or MBC, or an aftermarket BOV. sad.gif

Above all else, make sure you get a well working car to begin with. I don't give a damn if it has fucked up paint or anything, just make sure it's VERY mechanically sound.

Bodywork can always be re-done, the mechanical stuff is what's gonna screw your car over.

And seeing as how I don't trust...90% of car owners out there in the world, I would inspect EVERY used-car that I might consider buying personally. And I mean everything, take it for a test drive, ask the owners tons and tons of questions, ask to see car service invoices, check all fluid levels.

If the owner is really lenient and if he won't take offense, try examining his brakes and tires, those give you a great indication of his driving habit, and how well he maintains his car. You can tell a lot about a driver just by dissecting all the basic wear-n-tear items of his car. wink.gif
