Alright, I've got some spare time now, so here's the pics for the 2005 United States Grand Prix.
We left at about 2:30 in the morning for the road trip to Indianapolis, and after a 4 to 4 1/2 hour drive we finally arrived at the Indianapolis Speedway. We got there in time to see the first Formula BMW race, and then the 2nd Porsche Cup race. Both were pretty cool, but after a good 4 hour wait the real fun finally started. My buddy Kurtis was on the phone with his friend about 20 minutes before the race started, because his friend was watching the race on Speed, and he was telling us about the shit with the Michellin tires. They were saying the race might be cancelled on Speed, but when 1:00pm rolled around, the truth came out. Because of the two accidents on turn 13 the day before, due to undetermined problems with the tires, all Michellin teams were advised not to race, and none of them did. Out of the 20 racers, only 6 were actually on the grid when the real race started, the other teams pulled out after the parade lap. This pissed a hell of a lot of people off, a lot of Renault and Williams fans just flat out left the race, others were throwing drinks and food onto the track, and "booing" every time a car passed, after about 15 laps the press swarmed the stands egging on the crowd for good photo ops, so I started flicking off the cameras and when the TV cameras came by to talk to the crowd about how pissed they were I said Schumy won, and the whiney Renault fans can kiss my ass. Obviously, with only the contending Ferrari team, Schumacher and Barrichello one-twoed the race and Ferrari won the day, but with half the fans dissapointed and hating Ferrari for racing he didn't consider it much of a win. Heres some of the pics I took, it was a cool race, but the Renault fans really killed it for me. A lot of nice cars around, most of them Ferrari's. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Porsche Cup contenders (did I mention that Travis Pastrana was one of the racers?) ![]() Team Ferrari in the lead. ![]() ![]() The crowd got so bad that they started calling in Riot Cops to get their gear on. ![]() Schumacher Wins! (Thats Kurtis in the Bondurant shirt) ![]() There were a hell of a lot of people there, over 100k, and many were from other countries, mostly Brazil, Columbia, Europe, and Asia. ![]() ![]() ![]() Did I mention the Ferrari's? ![]() ![]() ![]() And this is what I mean by the fans really being asses to the drivers. They're giving Schumacher the thumbs down motion, and they did it every lap, along with a lot of loud "boo's" during his victory lap. -------------------- ![]() |

nice pics bro, i especially like the yellow ferrari poking it's head out in one of the pics. the only reason they would have booed schumacher is because of how good of a driver he is. it would be cool to go watch one of the gran prixs but the only one i could go to is the melbourne one but it is hard to get off work [should call in a sickie hey lol.]

LOL, i just talked about that tire incident in another post i made like two minutes ago.
yeah it was a total joke. Michelin brought in a whole set of tires for the race overnight, and then they said that 'drivers should use these tires at their own risk', or something like that. Something about that track having one of the longest straightaways in all of F-1, so the speeds get pretty insane right before that corner. They even wanted to put in a quick dog-legged chicane in the middle to slow down the cars because of the tires, but F-1 wouldn't have it. So in the end Michelin basically stated that those tires weren't perfectly safe, and of course...no sane $160M (more or less of course) team is going to risk their driver and F-1 car out on tires that might go kaboof, so they just simply pitted in. Oh yeah, I would've been pissed too. But hey! Team Ferrari won...and they haven't been doing so hot recently. Poor Schummie and his outdated F-1. 1st place: $200M team 2nd place: $180M team 3rd place: $160M team yeah..money is everything in racing. but now it's all screwy, i wish i had Speed to watch the future events. btw, hot Ferraris. I got a chance to eyeball one for the first time in a local parking lot where I worked...pretty sexy ass 360M. I would willingly and lovingly kill you all just to be able to drive one. -------------------- |

The F1 commitee didn't deny the use of the chicane, Ferrari did. When they asked if anyone would mind them putting a chicane in to lower speeds they gave everyone the choice to say they didn't want it, and if even one team said "No!" then they wouldn't do it.
Schumacher is racing the newest car on the track too... where did you get the idea that its outdated? And a 360 isn't a very uncommon car, especially for California. I see them pretty often out here. The really rare cars are the ones in the picture that don't look like the meanest car on the road. In the first Ferrari lineup, three cars back, the old-style one... yeah it's worth 1.5 Million, thats a hell of a lot more than even that F40 LM look-alike, -------------------- ![]() |

Ah I see I see. Yes, I would deny it too if it meant that only 6 cars would be out on the track. Pretty obvious that those six race teams would be EXTREMELY happy. Schumacher had an outdated car didn't he? At least for a few races at the beginning of the season. I know it's not uncommon, but it's uncommon to me. It's not like I frickin live in San Diego or Beverly Hills or wherever else rich white people like to live from up high and watch down on us lowly minorities. And I so rarely get to see exotics... Yes that old school one is lookin pretty nice, and I personally never really liked the F40 look for some reason, it's just a bit too much for me. I like me a simple 575M or 360M. -------------------- |
