Hey How About A Sports Section.

It will be mostly me talking MMA before major events.

In entertainment perhaps?

I'd love a place to talk about Manchester United and other soccer related things.

But I think we're the only two people (except maybe Omni) that cares about sports.

EDIT: I just attempted to look up MMA. Mixed martial arts? That sounds incredibly badass.

MMA IS THE SHIT! Ive been watching for almost 18 years. Its my favorite sport hands down. I used to be a big fan of several team based sports and boxing. But I got tired of them all for various reasons.

Well if there isnt enough interest then its ok.

But I WILL start an MMA thread. I am not just a fan, but am also a huge proponent of the sport. The more people I get excited about my sport. The better for me and my niggas.

I have my first post already written. Its a glance at the next few months of MMA. I also have a format ready to go with a fight by fight Thuornalysis(yeah thats a word now) of weekly cards.

I will either start the thread here in general. Or under TV & Movies under Entertainment.

If anyone has a preference let me know asap. I want to start the thread before the weekend. Specifically since I want to make this a weekly thread. To cover cards before they premiere on the weekends.

I understand that there wont be much interest here for it. But I need to work on my writing and I figured it would be easier by writing about something I like. And you guys will probably give me good feedback since you wont really be bias over the material. Of course I just may convince a couple of you cats(are the any girls on the board, I dont want to accidentally offend them) to watch.

If there is interest I will even write a history of the sport one day for you guys.

MMA = Mixed Martial Arts

Its exactly what it sounds like. Boxing, Freestyle Wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, Taekwando, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Capoeira, Muay Thai, Greco-Roman Wrestling, Shootfighting, Sumo, Ninjitsu, Aikido, Kick Boxing, Catch Wrestling, Sambo, Vale Tudo, Karate, Kenpo, Kung Fu, Pancrase, Shooto, etc...

This isnt a comprehensive list in any way. But I have seen all these styles used in MMA. MMA has now gotten to a point that you need to have mastered several arts to compete at the higher levels. To compete at the amateur levels you must be proficient in several arts. Modern fighters combine striking, control and submission arts. For instance mixing Muay Thai, Catch Wrestling and Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, striving to create the perfect combination to be the Ultimate Combat Fighter on Earth and the known Universe.

There is no Super Master of any martial art that can compete at the mid levels of MMA. If you got the greatest Karate guy in the world, no matter how good he is at karate, no matter how strong... He would get mauled by someone that has proficient knowledge of control and submission arts.

At the top, the elite MMA guys and girls are MONSTERS! You should try to avoid getting into fights, especially with someone that has any formal training of any kind. WHATEVER YOU DO, NEVER GET INTO A FIGHT WITH A DECENT MMA FIGHTER. You will be unconscious in a minute. They know way too many way to disable a human. I LOVE IT!
