get off your high-horse and come here and mingle with the commoners. the title is rather self-explaintory: this is the place for all the members, new and old, to become aquainted with one another.
ultimately this is a voluntary forum, but we recommend that you take a look around here sometime after you've accepted into the site.

this is where we'll post all our little updates regarding the site as a whole. any reconstructions that might affect your role playing pleasure or something trivial that might require your attention will be allocated here.
awards and mentions to members who have been exceptional will also be stored in this forum - however, this will only occur once we have a suitable number of role players to judge. no fun if there are just three or four of you to pick from, is there?

created by slytherin's very own gamp twins, nessus and nemesis. although the newspaper contains painstakingly vivid information concerning the events of any recent breakup or breakdown that may – or may not – have occurred in hogwarts, this small gossip column has grown in size as well as stature, and even the most brilliant ravenclaw bunch cannot help but feel drawn to read the tainted pages that the twins have collected. entertaining enough as it is, many students with honorable lineages have had their reputations torn apart by the gamp's constant snooping for information. if they've got dirt on you, be sure that it will wind up one way or another, on paper.

where you post your applications.
simple enough. post the template found in the character registration details in this forum according to whether your character is an original or a canon. as an extra-extra reminder, you must read the rules before posting here; its essential - and one way or another, your applications will reveal whether you've complied with our regiment.

character plotting forums are like, the creme brulee of sites; the sweet, tender squidgy bits that we all love.
for those of you who are not so sure about what this board is for, here is the gist:
make friends, enemies, lovers or haters in the forum. create some drama between characters and have fun introducing new possible plot lines between them.

want to send a romantic sonnet to special someone? trying to invite someone out for a day down at hogsmeade? sending owls has been a mean for witches and wizards to contact eachother for eons - and is still the most effective means in this century.
however, student at hogwarts have found other methods of communication - note-passing in class. well, what else is there to do when you are stuck in a boring herbology class? might as well suffer with a friend. passing notes however, is strickly forbbiden; you have been warned. if you are caught by a professor, its certain that you'll be spending a few afternoons in detention.

classes at hogwarts are taught in a variety of locations about the castle. some, such as charms, are taught in classrooms inside the castle. others take place in the greenhouses, in the dungeons, at the top of a tower, or even outside on the grounds.
a booming bell sounds throughout the castle and across the lawns to signal the end of class.

located to the south of the castle, which stands on a cliff overlooking the water, the lake is approximately a half-mile in diameter, large enough to house various creatures such as the giant squid, merfolk and grindylows. during winter when the lake has frozen over, it is common to see students skating and enjoying themselves on the solidified water.

the beloved gardens of hogwarts. located beyond the breaches of the southern courtyard and the small herbology shack, this paradise of exotic flowers and vegetation can be reached by entering a small glade concealed by the untamed growth of trees and shrubbary. the gardens begin at the other end.
created by the 60th headmistress of hogwarts, the gardens have been magically preserved to grow and last through the ages. the white marble pathways are gilded by the soft glow of the sun during the day, and the enchanted floating candles by night - though many would assume it is hardly necessary. fire-flies roost in many of the rose bushes, illuminating much of the scenary with their masses of glittering lights. couples have been known to take leisurely strolls during the day, considering it is forbidden to be wandering outside the grounds after hours. however, for those that have dismissed the idea of severe punishment and ventured out into the grounds, they would tell you that it was well worth the risk, for there are few things as glorious as the garden flora, at night.

to the east of Hogwarts castle is a large, dark forest. this forest is strictly off limits to hogwarts students, except in the course of occasional care of magical creatures lessons or detentions.
the forest is thick with trees -- beech, oak, pines, sycamore, and yew are mentioned, as well as undergrowth such as knotgrass and thorns but there are paths, brooks, and some clearings. off the path, the way is almost impassable, although people have moved through it and creatures as large as giants and abraxan herds have managed to pass through, unheard.

the station, where the hogwarts express ends its journey north from platform nine-and-three-quarters, is located near the lake. a road extends from the train station around the lake to hogwarts castle. the station is actually quite a distance from the town itself, being on the opposite side of the hogwarts grounds.

a small, cramped tea shop with decor on the tacky side of frilly, filled with small circular tables, located on a side street off the high street; the only hogwarts students who seem to patronize the place are trysting couples. the owner uses a revoltingly sappy decor for valentine's day (floating golden cherubs occasionally throwing pink confetti).
since it was opened in the early sixteenth century, the puddifoot women have been running the petite cafe - and every decentant has vowed to keep the cliche standards of this area as long as they have ownership.

what will later be reputed to be the most haunted house in britain, the shack is merely an old abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of hogsmeade. No one really knows who ever inhabited this ancient home, but no one cares to find out. despite now having the reputation it will have in over fifty years time, its boarded windows and doors give off the impression that people are still not welcomed inside.

tapping the right brick in the wall behind the Leaky Cauldron in London ("Three up...two across...") will reveal an archway which is a portal into Diagon Alley, a long cobbled street where is to be found a strange and exciting assortment of shops and restaurants. It is unquestionably the hub of commerce in the British wizarding world, with virtually every wizarding business stationed there. Consequently, the demand for space here is steep, and rent costs "loads of Galleons".

a well established club which features a variety of tantalizing activities and leisure centers for the wealthy. although originally, it's membership was limited to those with a pureblood status, it soon opened to those whom have connections with older members and to others who can afford to pay for its costly fees. however, it does have benefits – security, privacy and exquisiteness are among the collection of virtues the AA have been acknowledged for – and its annual abraxan races and jumping which draws crowds by the thousands from across the globe.
the grounds are spectacular and many visitors prefer to lounge outside on the many terraces that overlook fields of exotic flowers on the northern side. on the southern porch windermere lake is visible against the rolling plateau of trees and grass from where you might glimpse a few of the prize winning abraxan and aethonon where they are free to roam for certain hours of the day before being shipped to their lavish stables.
AA is certainly a place of note though some of the haughtier members feel that membership is now eligible to those with deep pockets and visitors are free to wander where ever they please if they manage to call out a name from the guest list.

a beautiful, delicate chateau on the outskirts of kent, is the main Causa Mortis's headquarters - called that because of the vampire clan that once owned this lavish estate. vampires are notorious for their love all things fine, expensive and in the cliché, gothic style, and this colossal manor is no exception to the rule. this massive home sits on twelve aches of untamed land, concealing much of the castle-like structure which lies in the central area of the plot.
although its exterior is a rather dull with the droll, unpainted walls and shutter less windows, the interior betrays the tired look of the stone estate.
ebony painted walls decorated with expensive, ancient portraits and metal displays are one of the features you will find in the ex-vampires' home, along with exquisite old, french furniture and persian rugs scattered in every room as if they were just common rugs. there are at least one hundred rooms in this fortress, and you can easily get lost in the winding hallways and narrow stairways.
since the vampire's leaving during the turn of the century, many muggles and wizarding folk alike have seeked refuge in this desolate home through out the decades, as have many refugees and fugitives. there have been rumors circulating since the vampires left of mysterious disappearance occurring in the chateau.
maybe not all the vampires left? and it is a proven fact that they do not tolerate intrusion, whether it be in their abandoned base or current one. enter here at your own risk.

sussex is a historic county in south east england corresponding roughly in area to the ancient kingdom of sussex. It is bounded on the north by surrey, east by kent, south by the english channel, and west by hampshire. sussex still retains a strong local identity and the county's unofficial anthem is sussex by the sea. the county's motto, "we wun't be druv", reflects the strong-willed nature of its people in past centuries. hopefully, this motto will increase the amount of quaint games like snidget-catching and broom-pole dancing.

france, officially the république française, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in western europe and that also comprises various overseas islands and territories located in other continents. metropolitan france extends from the mediterranean sea to the english channel and the north sea, and from the rhine to the atlantic Ocean. french people often refer to metropolitan france as l'hexagone - because of the geometric shape of its territory.
the french republic is a democracy that is organised as a unitary semi-presidential republic. its main ideals are expressed in the declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. in the 18th and 19th centuries, france built one of the largest colonial empires of the time, stretching across west africa and southeast asia, prominently influencing the cultures and politics of the regions.

germany, bundesrepublik deutschland, is a country in west-central europe. it is bordered to the north by the north sea, denmark, and the baltic sea; to the east by poland and the czech republic; to the south by austria and switzerland; and to the west by france, luxembourg, belgium, and the netherlands.
the state known as germany was unified as a modern nation-state in 1871, when the german empire was forged, with the kingdom of prussia as its largest constituent. after the french defeat in the franco-prussian war, the german empire was proclaimed in versailles on 18 January 1871. yhe hohenzollern dynasty of prussia ruled the new empire, whose capital was berlin. the empire was a unification of all the scattered parts of germany except austria. beginning in 1884, germany began establishing several colonies outside of europe.
in the gründerzeit period following the unification of germany, emperor william I's foreign policy secured germany's position as a great nation by forging alliances, isolating france by diplomatic means, and avoiding war.
