HARLEM
The poorest part of the city, most people avoid Harlem is they are able. Though once a bustling center, now it is a breeding place for crime, despite municipal attempts to reduce poverty.

The Selfish Giant
Much like its name suggests, the Selfish Giant offers food that will make you both selfish and - in time - very giant. Like many fast food establishments, the Giant offers a staple of hamburgers, fries and milkshakes that are both addictive and unhealthy.

Crocodile Creek
A grunge-punk bar with an eccentric owner. Though its name was initially intended to be simply 'the Creek' it was taken over by a one-eyed Aussie in the late 80s and his addition of a stuffed crocodile to the decor has warped both name and mood. A hang-out for most of the east-side's young people, bar fights are common but gangs are not tolerated by the owner. Ask the owner for his story of the crocodile which nearly got his leg, and you might get a free beer out of the deal.

Emerald City Apartment Complex
The largest apartment complex on the west side, this rectangular grouping of buildings is practically a small community to itself. Along with single and double apartments, this complex also includes a pool, gym, playground and squash court. Its name is derived from the green tinge on the copper roofing of the buildings.

Stone Soup Groceries
Though previously a chain store, Stone Soup is a combination of grocery mart and soup kitchen, offering cheap and exotic foods otherwise unavailable from other stores. During holidays, Stone Soup offers care packages to the unfortunate, and is generally considered one of the most eccentric of charities.

St. Agnes' Parish
The atmosphere surrounding the gothic architecture is quite the juxtaposition; come springtime, the abundance of flowers and freshness outside the dark walls give it a welcoming air.

Leopard's Spots Distillery
An expansive stone building. Its name is derived from the spots spray painted along the gateway. It used to be a distillery before a great fire wreaked its innards, killing many of the workers and destroying much of the equipment. Leopard Brewery went under, and the building was left abandoned for a decade before being transformed into one of the city’s foremost art galleries.

Van Winkle's Antiques
An antique store that has been in the area before the Artist’s Walk came into existence. The aging storefront, now very outclassed by the eccentric fronts of art galleries and shops, is almost unrecognizable except for a wooden sign hung over the doorway. How it manages to stay in business is one of the community’s great mysteries.

Jungle Bookstore
A family-run bookstore done in jungle motif. A favorite hang-out for local children, there are daily readings and book signings. Fake vines hang around the doorway, and a large tiger is painted across the store-front window. Though its selection is limited, Jungle Books prides itself on having the largest collection of first-edition fairy tales.

Happy Endings Cinema
An ancient looking cinema that has been there as long as anyone can remember. With an old-fashioned popcorn stands, crisp red carpet, an overload of gold paint and its very own chandelier, the cinema has a vintage feel that people will either love or despise. Its Saturday black and white double features are still quite popular, and it is frequented by young lovers on first or second dates.

Rainbow Lake University
A local university with a relatively small campus. Begun in the early 1920s, it is far past its prime and with an ancient building and just as ancient professors, its list of graduates is thinning. Its student body is made-up of students who cannot afford to go away to school and the occasional med student who wants real hospital experience.

The local theater which puts on nightly performances. Its elegant, dome-shaped structure lends the space excellent acoustics. Nightingale Hotel
The Nightingale is the city's only five-star hotel. The building used to be the home of the city's founder before he and his family passed away, and its elegant foundations can be recognized immediately by many of the city's inhabitants. Its restaurant is visited by the city's wealthiest, and its jazz bar attracts some of the most popular musicians of the area. Class and shine, the Nightingale is not somewhere to go unless you intend upon spending quite a lot of cash.
