aaa assuming that all ppl who have played a long time being good is not always necessarily true, cuz i personally know someone who has been playing for like 5-6 years and i can mess him up real good and i have known tonnes of ppl who have played longer and mopre often than me that i can still take

u didnt require a steam id back then, not until 1.6 was it required i believe

u always needed an id but it wasn't called a steamid then

i remember in 1.5 i had id's but they were won id's and thats what u used for admin crap

but u used a serial key to reg the product and as long as u have that key u can reg it with steam so if he actually had his original box he would indeed have a 3 or 4 digit id

I will totally play you. Back when I first played there wasn't any steam. There was just 1.1 and it was considerably crappier. I remeber when shields and night vision came out. Oh the fun we had.
