Welcome, Fáilte, Willkommen, Bienvenue etc. FTL is a literate roleplay based on the BBC/Shine drama 'Merlin'. While we're not overly strict, we must ask you read the rules and the plot before joining. It saves any complications later. Have Fun! - Staff.
After the unfathomable heat of the last few months, winter has finally arrived in our fair Camelot. The King is hosting banquets for visiting nobility while the servants begin the decorating of the castle for the winter festives. Everyone is invited and, if you're not nobility, the royal servants will be more than happy to have you attend their little get togethers either in the servants quarters or in the lower town.
We are currently accepting both canons and originals but would be much appreciative if you adopted a canon. The administration as that when you apply, you do so with your First and Last name if nobility (with Lord or Lady before it) or if you are a servant, just use your First name. If you are a knight, the same rules apply as if you were nobility, only place a Sir at the start. The staff are able to change your name after registering but it's a tedious business so please, save us the time we could be using on other site things.

A carriage pulled up with two black horses pulling it along. The driver quickly whoaed the horses and it came to a jerking stop which made her lean forward a bit. A sigh came to her lips and she leaned her head down on her knees. It was great and all that she was traveling, but soon she would have to return home and marry the man her mother and father have found for her. And there were many, her beauty had reached ears of so many that they were lining up at home. She didn't want that. She wanted true love. Like when the moment you look at that person you know that he's the one.
The carriage door opened and a hand reached inside for hers. With her soft white hand she placed it in his and stood up stepping down the two stairs that were on the carriage. She then lifted her head and presented herself outside in the sunlight. Her gaze moved up through the misty vail that covered her face to the castle. It was something to see. For this was the last stop on her agenda. With her birthday being only a few months away, she would either have to find love here, or forget about her freedom and the happiness she wanted. The carriage driver announced to the hand maids that were waiting for her. "Presenting Princess Elinor de Crux of Cara..." Taking a moment to inhale she smiled softly and released the breath she had been meaning to for a while now.
"Thank you for the introduction....as least there were no trumpets this time..."After she said it two men came from the castle doors and began to toot their horns. She softly laid her hand on her forehead and sighed. "Will I be meeting the Prince today...For I have heard much about him and it would be a pleasure to meet him..." The hand maids quickly moved behind her and picked up the back of her dress that was now dragging. Turning to look at them she smiled and stood there waiting for her next move and directions from who ever was going to ever come and lead her around to her quarters.

Perceval had some sincere doubts that meeting foreign princesses as a rather miserable stand-in for the Crown Prince of Camelot. He swore it was because of all that stupid blond hair. Speaking of the Crown Prince, Percy had no idea where the man was, probably off doing something very princely or mindless and chivalrious or simply trying to keep his eyes open whilst sitting on a council meeting his father summoned. The boy inwardly cringed, if it was the latter option, he really felt for him. He remembered that one time Arthur dragged him over to accompany him at one of the councils and staying awake had proven to be a task borderline impossible and involved loads of Arthur poking him under the table.
And so here he was, trying to look as dignified as possible in his formal robes of midnight blue (still a leGallois born and bred, he refused to wear Camelot colours unless on the battlefield), that he, thank gods, finally grew into. He glanced around for the minstrels that apparently were nowhere to be seen and allowed himself a sigh of relief. Camelot tumpets had worst possible timing, trust them on this.
Perceval stood by the gates and patiently watched as all the contents of the plump carriage poured out onto the cobblestones, frilly dresses of handmaidens creating a beautiful, flamboyant cloud. "Thank you for the introduction....as least there were no trumpets this time..." Percy could not help but laugh at this and realizing what he just did immediately covered his mouth. Hopefully, she wouldn't notice this little slip from protocol. Hm, she seemed decent enough, definitely way better than the last blue-blooded lady they had to deal with. He didn't know who he wanted to kill more that one time; the princess or Arthur who was climbing new levels of petulancy. He bowed deeply to greet the princess and offered her his hand in a kind gesture. Obviously that also was the moment the infamous Camelot trumpets chose to make an appearance. Percy tried not to wince.
"Will I be meeting the Prince today...For I have heard much about him and it would be a pleasure to meet him..." "I am terribly sorry that the Prince was not able to attend you at this very moment, my lady" he said politely, adding another bow for good measure. "But I am afraid he has been witheld by the matters of the State for the time being" or whatever it is that he does " However, if I may offer any consolation, you shall have the opportunity to meet his Highness at the feast tonight"

For once, Percy thought as they exchanged the excruciating courtesies, she seemed pleasant enough and pretty too, if he had to admit. Not in this overwhelming, stunning way that the Lady Morgana was, which, Percy considered, was for the better since she also did not seem to possess the frightening quality Morgana did and Arthur might mock him for it all he liked but she was scary. Especially when she said Perceval in this acidly sweet voice that usually meant he was in deep, deep trouble and made Percy want to throw himself on his sword right that moment so it would just end.
"Why you must make me wear one of these upon meeting with other royals I have no idea..." Percy grinned down at her, as she took the offered hand. "Perhaps they think you should shield yourself from his Majesty's attentions" he said jokingly, wondering whether Arthur would take to this new addition to the royal court. It would probably be welcome if he did. De Crux had vast lands and strong political influence, the king would be pleased to have them on his side to say the least and who knew? Perhaps having a wife was the thing Arthur needed to make him stop being a prat and knock some sense in that royal head of his. He sent the princess a scrutinizing glance. Maybe she was a Queen material. One could never really know, after all.
"It is no problem at all that he can't show himself. I understand that the great Prince of said Camelot has a lot of duties..." And what came out of Perceval's mouth next was the living proof of the fact that even Guinevere of all people would make a better diplomat than he ever would. He still was one of those people that should be eating toe-jam before even starting to form a verbal response. "Well, I'm not really sure about the importance of it; he's probably sitting somewhere, looking regal and trying to stay awake..." Perceval clamped his mouth shut as the realisation of what he just said hit him in the face. "Erm...I mean...he probably has some highly significant administrational matters to attend to, my lady" Oh. God. He might as well just put himself into voluntary exile and be done with it.
"That sounds like a good idea. Now, please show me to a room or at least point me in the direction of one..." Percy offered her a slightly wobbly smile, trying not to show how nervous he was due to what he just babbled out. "Yes, I imagine you would like to rest and refresh yourself after the journey" he said politely "I shall escort you to the chambers that have been prepared upon your arrival, if you do not mind my companionship that is, milady"

His comment about how she should shield herself from them made her laugh softly. She started to think back when she met another prince. Wasn't to long ago, and he actually wore a vail. When she came to find out why he wore it, it was because he wasn't all that great looking and his parents tried to hide his face from those ladies in waiting. When her hand maids left her she took a sigh to relax. "Good god...you would think they get bored with waiting on my hand and foot..." The De Crux family was well known all through England. She knew that Sir Authur knew of her but she wasn't exactly going to flaunt herself infront him. She heard that he usually turned down the maidens that came to his side. Standing there her gaze moved off of Percy every once in a while to look at the outsides of the walls. They were stone just like the ones at home. Meaning it was harder to get out of. Great another prison for her to be in.
"You don't have to hid Sir Authur's real ambitions. Trust me luv, I do the same thing when I'm home and tell my hand maids to just tell them i'm looking over script or something. It seems to work because no one ever bothers me..."It was a good thing that no one bothered her because she liked to spend her time tied into her books and just day dreaming. It was a bad thing for her to do in such an era of pointing fingers but alas there was nothing they could actually do about it, right?
Something made her take a second glance at Percy. Did he have a disliking for the Prince. It seemed so, the way he talked down on him. Though if he was trying to relax, she didn't blame him. It was hard having so many duties and having to appear a certain way to please people. She just wished it would all go away and she could live a life of fun. And thats exactly why she was on this trip. To find well True Love and to have fun and explore new places. "A four week carriage ride is very exhausting. I would like to batten down the hatches until supper.."He started walking beside her and asked if he could go along with her on the walk to her room. "Sure...my hand maids don't talk all that much. It would be nice to have someone else to speak to besides them."Picking up her own dress now she made her way inside the castle with him and her hand maids followed not far behind the two of them.

Well, at least he didn't seem to have failed completely, Percy thought, feeling an immense relief washing over him. His first attempt at lightining up the mood happened to work quite well emitting a laugh from his royal companion. Alright then, perhaps the world of diplomacy should brace itself for Perceval le Gallois arrival after all, he thought (somewhat) smugly. Glancing at her sideways, not meaning to stare, Percy couldn't help but wonder what the fate of this very maiden would be regarding the prince. Perceval sometimes truly pondered whether Arthur turned the princesses and daughters of powerful magnates because he really did not find them interesting enough to capture his attention or because it simply amused him to see their faces when he said 'no' in that snooty royal manner he had or perhaps because Uther did not find the girls' downry adequate. It was hard to say, but Perce was no stranger to marital disputes. It was hard enough, to get his eldest brother Tor married. He claimed to have loved war above all else, but Perceval knew better than anyone how many illegitimate children of his fathering bounced unknowingly around Corbin. He sighed inwardly. Well, at least with Arthur the last part didn't seem to be a problem. The infamous Sophia incident had been awkward enough for all as it was, thank you very much. They didn't need blond Arthurian screaming brats running about on top of that.
Sir Arthur, now that, thought Percy with this sort of gleeful malice that his brothers must have felt every time they discovered something new to torment their youngest sibling with, was just pure gold. Oooh, he was never going to let Arthur live that one down, it was just too hilarious for words. He really did not appreciate her somewhat patronizing tone, really, because the only person that could have gone away with calling him 'luv' was well, his mother, but mothers were supposed to get away with things like embarrassing you publicly or making you want to dig a deep hole in the ground with you bare hands, so you could promptly hide in it. So yes, blond air-headed girls, no matter how pretty or how high born they were, did definitely not qualify amongst those priviledged enough to call stalwart knights 'luv'.
"A four week carriage ride is very exhausting. I would like to batten down the hatches until supper.." Perceval nodded in understanding. "Indeed my lady, I believe it to be very exhausting" Perceval said very politely. "My land stretches up North, but the journey as it was had been rather excruciating, I cannot even imagine how tiring it must have been for you"
Sure...my hand maids don't talk all that much. It would be nice to have someone else to speak to besides them." Percy nodded and smiled down at her, as warmly as he could muster. "I hope you'll find more desirable companionship during you stay" he said "The Lady Morgana will definitely keep you entertained" or her banter with Arthur will he added inside his head but thought better than to utter it aloud. He already exceeded his faux pas limit for the they, it would seem. Besides, Morgana was the last person one wanted on their bad side. He loved Morgana, he truly did, but she truly could be terrifying and her recent lack of sleep really seemed to have gotten on her nerves. On everyone's nerves, actually.
