Long time no talk haha

I was wondering if you guys could give me constructive feed back on this. I plan on going to college for this kind of stuff and I have been working on getting very good at it but it's a very slow work in progress.

Thanks!

This is merely my opinion, but I'm tired of all these "artsy" sigs, that are completely composed of weird graphics effect, with no base picture. I'd rather see something that reflects the personality or preference of the poster, than something that looks like you made a sig and then asked who wants it and pasted their name into it.

Well after talking with Perrinoia he "inspired" me to experiment with pictures. This is what I came up with.

I told him to use this background image, resized in half, crop off the bungie logo, and paint his name on the gun.

Here is what it would look like at half size, the image still needs to be resized, I just shrunk it with HTML.

What makes it so bad... Give him constructive criticism. Don't just bash it.

hmmm, well what I did was just bevel it and then I was thinking about a drop shadow but that didn't make sense.

It takes a while to develop a sense of artistic taste. perrin's suggestion is troublesome; if you use someone else's work and just slap your name on it, you have to wonder to what extent the work is actually yours.

I'm sorry, I'm simply not a fan of random photoshop effects on an inkblot type of sig... I'd rather see something with a photograph or a screenshot.

If there was a recognizable object in the sig, that would be different, but sigs like Omega's just look like someone dipped a racket ball in liquid nitrogen and then threw it at a pink wall. It's a shattered blue ball on a pink background with some light behind it and the colors from your name are bleeding into the pink background as if you saved it as a jpeg with a shitty compression ratio.

The only thing one can determine from the sig about you is that you are the only gay man alive who would make a horrible interior decorator.

Hence why I suggest that he use images that have something to do with his character instead of attempting to produce works of art from scratch as his introduction into photoshop.

Perrin, honey, that was downright mean spirited.

My signature is entirely original. As for my taste in decorating, I've yet to own a home in which to decorate, however you can be assured that when I do I will not be looking to you for advice on how to color the walls. I need only call on you to warm my bed and hold me close on those cold winter nights.

As for your artistic suggestions, you do not foster creativity. What you advocate is that he graffiti the work of others.

I made this one for my counterpart, orb 0mega. (he prefers a zero). we're still quite the pair, on the rare occasion orb has a thread in which we both post. I suppose you prefer it better?

It's like looking at your sig through tinted glass. His looks like a Christmas tree ornament shattered underwater.

But that's the point, it looks like something. There was a debate about this on PUB once - throw on a few filters to text, slap it onto someone else's work, and done. Collages are an exception, but that's hard to pull off.

Tyboy: make something meaningful to you using your own imagination. you'll enjoy it more later.

I wasn't saying he should just slap his name on a picture. Obviously I want him to do more than that. Hence why I've linked him to many pictures relating to his name.

He only posted 1 or 2 of the ones I linked him to. I was trying to give him inspiration, and possibly images to manipulate. What I don't want to see is another crappy artistic blob of pixels.

Shit I forgot all about this. I am glad though that you still hang around here Omega, I was sad to see that most of the old faces have disappeared.

Anyways, thanks for all the constructive criticism really helps in the long run believe it or not it really does.
