Banned one week for AFK-training. We noticed her sitting in a 2x1 space with a wolf, casting cure on herself at repeated intervals. We booted her and she didn't log back in, which pretty much screams autoclicker to us, as well. This is blatant abuse of game mechanics. We also noticed her sitting in Argo, curing herself in intervals. When someone killed her, she respawned right away and continued curing herself in place.

To be honest there's no defined rule against AFK training. There's no mechanics abuse in there, considering it's a use of external computer tools, not FFO mechanics. I could AFK train without using external tools, all I have to do is join someone's party, auto-follow them, and just leave my computer running, which would actually be FFO mechanics abuse.

Kaji was also stating that Gaku didn't want this happening, so there needs to be a rule made simply stating AFK training is not allowed.

Dean should know better than to use an external program to train or do anything on FFO.

Still mechanics abuse since it's being done solely to prof up cure while not at the computer. If you want to train while not at the computer, ProgressQuest is there for you.

EDIT: For those who want to argue how there's no logical reason for this being a ban...

Arcus banned for AFK training in an inn alone via cure.

Norkia all banned in 3.5 for Mantra Training in an inn.

Just a reminder, courtesy of one of Sarm's prior posts..

QUOTE (Sarm)
8. Report bugs, do not abuse them. If you stumble upon something in the game that appears abusive, overpowered, or otherwise buggy, report it. This should be done in the Bug Reports forum and done as soon as possible. Even if you aren't sure that it's an exploit in some way, report it: we would rather have several posted abuses and none turn out true, that no posted abuses even though people have found them out. Also report things that look out of whack, such as if a monster is giving tons of experience but is extremely easy. Trash thieves, outlaw suicide, and other uses of loopholes in the game fall under exploits/bug abuse. Finding a hole in the code isn't a greenlight to rip said hole wide open for your own fun and games.
--- If you find out about an exploit through someone else, report it as well. If they haven't reported it, it's more than likely that they are trying to abuse it, or are clueless. Either way, it is unacceptable (with excepting circumstances). Anyone caught abusing an exploit of the game will have at least a temporary ban:
they can plead their case by PMing Gaku or any game administrator (currently Emma, Cea, and Sinsie) if need be. Attempts to bypass the ban or unproductive and rude comments about the ban in the forums will result in a more permanent ban.

Since people want to be stupid little rules laywers, it might be helpful if the first line of this is rewritten to "Report explots; do not abuse them".  Still, it's written right there in the rules.  There's no excuse, and his week-long ban falls in line with what the rules state will happen to those caught exploiting.

And by exploiting, I mean the act of accumulating experience to increase the power of your character when the reason for the combat system's existence is to do just this.  You're meant to progess by killing monsters or players; not locking yourself up in the inn and spamming spells.

And a preemptive snipe again: Even if you use an auto-clicker, getting your cure and armor profs trained up while away from the computer would count as an exploit of the game; you aren't playing the game but you're still advancing. The only legal AFK advancement is your personal level cap.

Sarm quote is null. You no longer receive experience from casting spells/using skills.

Edit: You don't receive experience that counts towards leveling up. I suppose I should have specified since you weren't able to discern that for yourself. That's how it WAS, when the mentioned parties received punishment for said incidents.

Quote RE-nulled.

You receive prof exp from casting/using spells and skills. I've proffed skills repeatedly through natural use in the previous version. In fact, most of my Double Hit profs past 45 were from just normal use.

Quote not nulled.

EDIT: ANY character-building done while AFK other than PLC increase is not legal. If I'm gaining cure profs without doing anything on my own, it is not kosher. Would you like it if all of your enemies in PVP did this overnight every night in a fashion to where you could not kill them simply from their cures being extremely high proffed through no effort of their own? Why, it would be Frost Dragons all over again!

Even if you're a low level, the benefits from proffing cure still exist. As you gained it illegitimately, you were justly punished.

Then there needs to be a rule added simply stating that AFK training in anyway is against the rules. That's really all my first post was about.

It's a common sense rule. If you aren't actively playing the game, you shouldn't actively be advancing.

Also.

Report bugs and exploits, do not abuse them.
Even if it requires an auto-clicker program, why was it not reported that he was able to find a way to gain prof exp without doing anything himself, with almost 0 risk?

Tanking 3 mobs at once is not anywhere NEAR 0 risk.

Pretty much, I used suffixes etc... intelligently to make sure I had a good chance of living while trying to increase my proficiency in a certain skill. I've actually died doing this a few times. I'm going to continue to train in this manner while I'm in front of my computer. I guess I just need to be there to respond and tell whoever is no-clipping their ass around the entire game/warping to every single player to go pound sand and leave me alone to make sure I don't get gay-banned again.

8. Report bugs and exploits, do not abuse them. If you stumble upon something in the game that appears abusive, overpowered, or otherwise buggy, report it.

Your statement of tanking 3 mobs doesn't match up to the admin's evidence/claims. And seriously, if you need to automate a process in the game in order to get farther, why are you even playing? Games are to be played, not automated.

I has screenshots sir. There were three mobs.

On a side note, I don't care about your personal opinions. This is a moderation thread. All I care about is rules. If you'd like to tell me how you feel about the game Dr. Phil style, make another thread in Chatterbox.

As far as the rules go, I don't see anything about automating a skill for use when not in front of the computer. I understand the rule #8 is rather vague and allows you to kind of make it be whatever you want, but I still stand by my claim that I didn't blatantly break any rules.

Side note. Wasn't a 2x1 spot. There were 5 walkable tiles.
