Title: Turf-casting.
Description: It follows monsters.

ScouSin - May 23, 2009 07:45 AM (GMT)
When I try to turf-cast on a space currently occupied by a monster, my cast is tagged and follows the monster. What this means is that if I turf-cast on a monster, and he moves next to an ally, I can accidentally smack the ally with the tier 2, when I intended to keep my cast on the tile the monster originally occupied.

I tried telling people about this. They all insisted that it was intended that way. If it is, it should be changed anyways. Turf casting should cast exactly where you click.

Gaku: what are you pressing to turf cast?

I hold both CTRL and ALT to turf cast. It works to successfully turf cast in all other instances except when a monster occupies that same turf.

As an aside, I learned how to turf cast from random players, and while I searched places (most notably the FAQ), I saw nothing except a post or two referencing these same directions in the FAQ. That FAQ also has a lot of obsolete information...but that's to be changed for Terulia anyway.

You're just accidently clicking the monster instead of the turf when you try to turf cast.

You're just clicking wrong.

You completely missed the point of this thread. Turf clicking should cast where you click, REGARDLESS.

That's a suggestion, not a bug.

These are the bug report forums.

Turf casting was changed around so that it supposedly WOULD ignore the mob on the tile. That's the whole reason with making it so complicated. The problem I heard, is the mob has to be stationary for the turf casting to ignore it. If it's moving then your mouse registers the mob.

Which is also why I think turf casting is just better off going back to the simple ctrl+click to turf cast/cast on mob without complicated hostility declarations. Since mobs are almost never stationary.

No, it's a bug. Turf casting is intended to cast on a turf, but it's not.

Gaku: byond issue, just because the monster appears to be over its previous location is irrelevant because as far as byond is concerned, the monster is already in the new location
