Three years. It had been a year since Sam took her in. Mary had to admit, this past year had been the best so far. She was daddy's little girl, and she was perfectly fine with that. Now at the age of 6 (almost seven in a month), Mary had grown into a mini-Sam in every way. She could be very sassy when called upon, but she always found a way to make her father laugh.
The last couple of days, Mary had been staying at Mr. Bradley's house. Her father had gone off somewhere and he did not want her and Marv to be alone, so she stayed with Mr. Bradley. He was very nice! They played boardgames and had quite a lot of fun around the house. He felt almost like a grandfather figure to her. It was something she missed having in her life.
Today was the day that Sam was supposed to come and get her. She was told by Mr. Bradley that he would be there in the morning and Mary could not wait! She stayed up practically all night due to her excitement, and when she got up in the morning she fell asleep at the window sill waiting for her father to return. Mr. Bradley had come around, checking on her, and found her asleep earlier; when Mary awoke she noticed she had a blanket on her. It wasn't the blanket that woke her, it was the sound of Sam's motorcycle in the driveway that alerted her to his arrival.
"DADDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!" she screeched, launching out from beneath the blanket and running towards the door. She opened it with some help from Mr. Bradley and immediately sprinted out the door, down the stairs, and directly into Sam's arms once he got off the bike. Oh what a glorious morning!

A lot had happened over the span of a night. While leaving Mary in the care of Alan, Sam had gone to investigate his father's old arcade after his godfather had received a mysterious page from there. During his time there, Sam had discovered the Grid, a digital land his father had created, and found his father there. After an eventful time inside the computer world, Sam had gone back to the real world, losing his father once again due to him sacrificing himself to destroy his evil counterpart, and gaining a companion by dragging one program named Quorra out.
How was he to explain Quorra to Mary?
The little girl had become extremely important to him. He had never really thought of himself as being a father, and all of a sudden he had been thrust into it. It wasn't like he was forced though. He could have taken the girl to an orphanage at any time, but he just couldn't. She grabbed him by the heart strings that night he had found her, and Sam could easily say he had never looked back since.
Quorra had to live with them for the time being. She was brand new to the real world and needed guidance. Sam had to provide that guidance, taking on the nerve wracking position that was being Quorra's mentor. He wasn't his father, but he would try to do his best to teach her what he could. He didn't think Boo would mind it too much. Maybe she would like having another girl around. Besides, he was sure Quorra wouldn't mind seeing what a child was like.
After taking Quorra to see the sunset and getting her settled down at his small apartment, he went off to pick Mary up from his Godparents' home. He had three bikes now. His father's old Ducati, his own newer model, and another more recent model that he had attached a sidecar to. The third was what he was riding now, since that one he had gotten specifically for Mary, of course.
He had barely been able to get off of his bike before the little girl had come running out to him, aiming for his arms. He easily scooped her up, a gentle smile on his lips as he held her close to him. "Hey, kiddo. How've you been?" He looked towards Alan and nodded to him with an appreciative look in his eyes before he turned and placed Mary in the sidecar, strapping her in before he placed her little pink helmet on her head.
"I've got a surprise waiting for us at home." He told her as he got on the bike and started it. He didn't get into details. He didn't want her to get her hopes up about anything. He really didn't know how she was going to react to Quorra, but he could only hope it was a good reaction. With that, he headed off towards home. Fortunately, the ride didn't take too long, and soon enough the back garage door of his apartment lifted, allowing them entry. He slipped in, parking the bike and turning off the engine before he slipped off of it and helped Mary out, taking off her helmet and putting it away in the process.
He spotted Quorra from across the room and subtly gestured for her to come closer before he turned to his adopted child. "Mary, there's somebody I want you to meet." He guided the little girl forward a little before he squatted down beside her, glancing up at the ISO as she came closer to them. "This is Quorra. She's going to be staying with us for awhile." He smiled somewhat, "Quorra, this is Mary."
