Happy December darlings! The holidays are here, which means WINTER BREAK! WOOOOO! We're super excited for what's to come this month, and hope to see tons of activity around the board again! School and work have been killer on everyone, but finally, hopefully, some time to relax!
We've got some great stuff planned, such as the Holiday Fastpass thread, "Mix And Mingle", and several fun games and activities like the 25 Days Of Christmas icon challenge and Secret Santa. Plus, we have a snazzy Christmas overlay! Tons of stuff on the way, and much more planned for the new year!
But with the New Year in mind, we do have some cleaning and sprucing up to do! So sit back with your eggnog and warm blanket, this newsletter might be a bit of a read, but it's very super extremelyyyyy important!
First of all, the Secret Santa list has been finalized!! Remember: The deadline for the Secret Santa gifts is December 23rd! Expect a PM with your Secret Santa assignment very soon!
With the New Year approaching, we the Staff would like to tackle an issue that has been persisting over the past few months: Impulse Apping! We’ve addressed the issue previously, but still feel that it’s a bit of a trending problem here at Fant. We’re getting a lot of what we fear are spur-of-the-moment applications, which really becomes a dilemma when the applicants already have quite a few characters under their belt and aren’t active with all of them. With this in mind, the Fant!Staff has come to a decision that may come as a bit of a surprise to you: We will not be accepting any applications from current Fantasmic members during the month of December. We will only be accepting first-time applicants, in hopes of spreading the love a little, as well as giving current Fantasmic members time to really consider whether or not they wish to proceed with new applications.
We really want to encourage you guys to be honest with yourselves when considering taking on another character. Do you have time for another character? Do you have the muse for another character in addition to the ones you currently have? Are you active with all of your current characters?? We’re seeing a lot of good characters collecting dust on the shelves, and a surprising number of new ones being applied for, accepted, and then never used—some members are even moving onto new applications without ever posting with their most recently-accepted character.
We love all of you guys and know that there’s an amazing amount of writing talent on this board. But we hate to see any characters go to waste, and we hate for you guys to snatch up characters on a whim and then feel overwhelmed by having to post with so many. So for the remainder of December, all applications posted by current Fant members will be marked as PENDING. This is not a punishment, dearies! This is just to get things organized. :]
One more nitpick! We've noticed that some signatures are getting totally crazy around Fantasmic! Please make sure that your signatures meet the size restrictions: signatures should be no larger than 400px width by 200px height! That includes ALL signatures in your rotation, if you have the code in place. Also, we're seeing a lot of signatures made from artwork. If your signature or avatar includes artwork by an artist online and NOT official Disney art, you MUST credit that artist IN YOUR SIGNATURE. Not in your profile information. If an artist happens to stumble upon their work used here at Fantasmic and don't initially see a credit to them, it can be upsetting. Please be respectful of other artists--you must ask for permission to use their work, and if granted, you must credit them.
And finally… THE TANGLED APPS! We really appreciate your patience to allow everyone a fair chance to see the film and get their applications in! The apps are really lovely, and we’re excited to welcome a Rapunzel and Flynn to the Fant Family soon! With this in mind….we’ve received quite a few applications for the dynamic duo, but unfortunately we can only accept one of each. We’d just like to go ahead and tell all of the applicants that you all have done a stellar job, and we hope no one is too disappointed if their app isn’t chosen.
