NaNoWriMo 2009

So, is anyone else doing it this year? This will be my first year doing National Novel Writing Month... I happened to get an idea for a story last night, and thought 'Hm. Good timing!' So I'm going to see where I can get with it. I SHOULD be doing something original for the chance of getting another book published, but I figure this will be fun regardless. SO. If you are doing it, whatcha writing about? :)

Myself, I have been reading recently "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister", as I've heard much about it. And while it's a great book...it seems to me more of a 'based on the same story but not' rather than a real 'other side of the story' thing. So I thought "The Tremaines are constantly talking about the other side of the story...why not actually write it for them?" And so, I am. xD Its going to be fun stuff, and I figure when I'm finished with it I can stow a copy in our breakrooms at work for the other girls to read.

So. Who else is writing away?

Got my first 2K in the bank today and I'll consider that an achievement for now. XD This is my third year and I'm glad I'm doing it--it gives me a distraction from wondering whether or not colleges like my applications!

Your first year? Oooh, you're gonna have so much fun! Get ready for a near-permanent loss of your sanity, but the bursts of inspiration in December make up for it so much. Get lots of NaNo buddies to endure the pain with you. (:

I'm running with a loose idea that mostly took shape yesterday. I really have no idea where it's going. I usually work with a basic plan and then go nitty-gritty during revision, but this is the first time where I'm going to let my cast drive the story. Lots of diverse personalities to really get the ball going.

I'm one of those weirdos who writes everything longhand (yes, even RP posts) so I have to do lots of math to get word count estimates. No fun at all.But it sure beats counting every word individually.

Is anyone participating in NaNoWriMo?! I decided to, but I'm already getting stuck. Haha. 50,000 words by the last day of November!? That's so many! I'm going to try though! I'm hoping Fant! will give me muse power, and my novel will give me muse power for Fant! SYNERGY AND MUSE TEAMWORK HOORAY!

Kat already made a thread on this, but yes, I'm crazy enough to do it. This is my third time and I'm excited! Won twice and I'm hoping to do the same this year, despite being traumatized by college applications.

Ironic enough my muse told me to write about a decrepit old mansion in Louisiana... There's more to it don't worry! XD Anyways. If anyone participating wants to be a writing buddy my username is: thehatboxghost !

I hope I'll at least know where I'm going by the end of the month,but I'm surprised by how much the story writes itself! Who the heck are these characters and what sneaky little plot bunnies do they carry with them? I haven't updated my word count for today yet (NO MORE MATH, PLEASE!) but I will after I get some work out of the way.
