Okay, I'm gonna start a series of tuts on how to sprite. This is the first one. Enjoy it plz! *NEW* Pics included!

Step one
First open up Microsoft Paint.
Get your DP sprites of pokemon from http://www.spriters-resource.com/nintendo/pokemon/pkmndp/display.php?file=alldp.png.

Now from the same site get The 2nd gen or 1st gen sprite ur gonna recolour it with.

Step Two
Now, I will only describe how to do G/S/C sprites.
Get the main colour of your G/S/C sprite put it everywhere on your new sprite APART FROM YOUR LIGHT BITS. It should look like this (Ditto is a bit different, it has dark shading like newer sprites, only do this if your G/S/C sprite has shading):

Step Three
You need to know some things.
1. G/S/C Sprites have 4 or 5 colours. These are: Black White Red and two other colours that depend on the pokemon.
2. Instead of shading, there is a diagonal assortment of white.
3. Their outline Usually consists of Red and Black, or just Black.
With all this in mind, make it look like this:

Here is what you can do with this!

Thank-you Spence. I'm sure this will help all the 2nd gen. hackers out there, and trust me; they are out there!

This wasn't just written for hacking.

I'm trying to devamp my avatar... and it is coming along quite well!

Aww.... DP! That was a test man! Don't you know this belongs in the older gen. area? Oh well, your new at it. So...

Edit: And DP's double post was my fault, I was about to move this earlier when I noticed he was posting. So I made it a test. ninja.gif

I actually think it looks better! I don't know why, maybe it gives me a sense of nostalgia... Cool!

Er...sorry. I was not paying attention, it will not happen again.

I know, Gold and Silver sprites give me more of a sense of nostalgia rather than R/B/Y sprites do for some reason. Thought now that I have though about those old days, I miss them! Oh well, time for the future, right?

No problem DP, I didn't notice it at first either.

Hiidoran, a wierd glitch has ocurred. The name of this topic has changed to another topic I had made! Now it says that this topic will teach you how to REVAMP sprites, not DEVAMP sprites.

Posted by: Hiidoran Oct 7 2007, 10:35 PM
Yeah, that wasen't a glitch....
My bad! It was late last night and I thought you made two different REVAMP threads instead of one devamp and one revamp. So I merged them, noticed my mistake, and split them again. I suppose that was the result. You should be able to rename it if you want, just edit your first post and the option should be there, if not just tell me and I'll edit it.

Unfortunately I can't, I've actually already tried that. So can you change it for me? Thanks...

Sure, what do you want the title and subtitle to be?

Posted by: Spenceroone3 Oct 9 2007, 05:47 AM
Doesn't matter, as long as peopel know that it is a devamp tutorial.
