Experts have 10 tips that can let you know if someone isn't being complete honst. Thanks to
WebMD and trained federal agents and experts, we are able to learn and use these tips for our own advantages. So how do you catch a liar? Well, like I said, there are 10 signs to look for. It takes time to master these skills but with practice, it would be as simple as pie.
Tip No. 1- Inconsistencies (Lack of agreement)
Find something in the story that doesn't fit or make sense. Take the shooting for an example. she said she didn't look but ran. She heard gunshots but didnt look? When a person hears a loud noise, it's a natural reaction to look toward it. Therefore she must have seen the shooter. Her story was just illogical.
Tip No. 2- Ask the unexpected
About 4% of people are accomplished liars and they can do it well. But for the rest its different. Newberry says "watch them carefully and then when they don't expect it, ask them one question they are not prepared to answer to trip them up.
Tip No. 3- Gauge Against Baseline
One of the most important indicators of dishonesty is changes in behavior. You want to pay attention to someone who is generally anzious but now looks calm and vice-versa. The trick is to tell if the person's behavior is falling away from how they would noramlly act. If it is, that could mean something is up.
Tip No. 4- Look for Insincere Emotions
Most people can't fake a smile. The timing would be wrong, it will be held too long or it will be belnded with other things. It could be a combination of an angry face with a smile. Look for these fake emotions, which clearly tell you they aren't as honest as you think, especially their fake emotions.
Tip No. 5- Pay attention to Gut Reactions (a natural instinct, you will know)
Tip No. 6- Watch for micro expressions.
Microexpression- A brief expression, about a 25th of a second, that is always a concealed emotion. When a person is acting happy, but in actuality is really upset about something, for an example, his true emotion will be reviewed in a subconscious flash of anger on his face. In a blick of an eye. 99% can't see it but with practice, anyone can spot it.
Tip No. 7- Look for contradictions
The general rule is anything that a person does with their voice or their gesture that doesn't fit the words they are saying can indicate a lie. For an example. "Yes, she's the one that took the money!" they will without knowing it make a slight head shake "no."
Tip No. 8- A sense of unease
Not making eye contact, sweating, looking uneasy, anything that isn't normal.
Tip No. 9- Too much detail
Too much detail could mean they've put a lot of thought into how thy're going to get out of a situation and they've crafted a complicated lie as a solution.
Tip. 10- Don't ignore the truth
Please remember that you are trying to get the truth so that your a case, or question can be solved honestly and accurately. Trying to find out if they are not being completely honest is just a step towards finding truth. If they do lie, please realize they lie for a reason. Understand why they might be lieing before you make judgments.
