History is a wonderful subject. The study of the past, where we can learn our mistakes, our hardships, our wins, and our downfalls. Covering religious conflicts to bloody wars, from the different types of governments to the important leaders we recognize today. Thinking of history really excites me. What is your favorite time in history and why. Why do you love history and why do you hate it.

I am currently taking AP European history and it's great! We just covered WWI, WWII, and the Cold War. Oh my, imagine you are in a field of trenches, lying with dead bodies with you, if you were to peek over the mound, you risk getting mowed down by machine guns. Trench warfare they call it, the most bloody and vicious type of war. Men fought for just inches of land, that means the sides only gained a few feet of land at the cost of thousands of lives!

Erm, I'd like to say the time we're living in, but that's probably everyone's thought so I'm gonna pretend that I can choose in what time I'd live. Well, then I'd choose ... the Middle Ages

Why the middle ages? Because of the existance of knights, nobles, kings or perhaps their art?

Knights, nobles, kings, etc. =D The Middle Ages are cool. Though I think I'd miss the technology we have today. tongue.gif

I've never been into History duting high school, it was boring and i didn't want to learn of things in the past.

but , in college, i had the greatest teacher ever, and he made you want to learn history, and i did!

One of the stories that fascinated me most was the story of, i think there nicknames were "Nicky and Sunny" ... the royal family of Russia before the Red October Revolution.

This family ruled with no remorse, keeping the wealthy in power, and the middle class and bourgeiseise (lower class) in the woprst possinle situations imaginable.

Then the minds of a few Revolutionists led a Revolt to take them out of power, and actually stormed the home of this family (can't remember their names) and murdered "Nicky and Sunny" and their 4 children, so no heir to their legacy could enter power, and a new diiplomat could rule over Russia.

I'l have to pull out these chapters from my notes in college, it really is a great story in History.

I've heard of a October Revolution but never a "Red October Revolution." Did the revolutionaries include the bolshevicks? Yah, I thought that section in history was pretty interesting too. Germany used the revolutions to weaken their Russian enemies during WW1.

alright, that's cool. History is really interesting, more than middle, the teacher made it sound boring. I guess the teacher is most important person to get a student motivated to learn.
