Hi all, new to the forum and amassing the bits for my next project, A Cheetah replica built on a TVR Griffith/ Chimaera Chassis. The wheelbase is bang on at 90" and the track is within an inch or so. That said, I'm sure it will be alot of engineering to get it right. For this of you not familiar with these TVRs they are a lovely space frame chassis with full wishbone suspension fromt and rear and come with a Buick/ Rover V8 set way back... sound familiar? Lately a few guys have been putting small block chevy's in them as it's cheaper than hyper tuning the aluminium Buick Engine.
Any thoughts on this? Specificaly I'm looking for experience with what I can see as the two body manufacturers. Cheers, - Douglas |

I just so happen to build reproduction , griffiths and tvrs, i also build my own version of the Cheetah. Never thought of using the tvr frame under the Cheetah body.

Hi Douglas,
better is to start from the group engine/gearbox/differential and then from the rear end fix the correct 90" Cheetah wheelbase. If you start from the chassis for should be better to find a 98" body kit so you will get more chance to find the correct position. Masermat Attached Image (Click thumbnail to expand) ![]() |

Hi all
Why not add a real twist of irony and put the body on a dare I say it , a Cobra replica chassis, on second thoughts build a replica of the original chassis, it's just a long job. Alicat |

I build Cobra replicas too, and a Cheetah body will not fit. the Cobra has 4" main chassis tubes, this alone kills your headroom, even going to the small block cobras 3" main rails won't help. Then on a Cheetah you sit between the rear tires, the cobra , you are in front of the rear tires. Shell Valley Cobras make a Cheetah replica built on their Cobra frame ,looks?, you be the judge.

I think that if you start from a cobra chassis tube it is possible to fix a 98" Cheetah body.
Tube chassis of course must be done with correct size and of course the chassis must work means that all the geometry had to be done to use the car without handling problems. For the tube chassis some ideas at www.thompson-motorsports.com Attached Image (Click thumbnail to expand) ![]() |

The Cheetah body must come from a kit .........this means that for sure it will be impossible to fix the replica of the original body.
It is possible to find this "normal kit" body at www.goracin.com (is not a mistake goracing.com is another web site) with some install instructions. ciao Attached Image (Click thumbnail to expand) ![]() |
