English Bull Terrier Cross Liberty arrived 26 June 2008 as a stray when she was a young puppy. She has spent the first year of her life growing up in kennels. After 9 months, she was starting to find kennel life too stressful and had to be moved into a temporary foster home.

She has surpassed all expectations in her foster home! She is bright, eager to learn, house-trained, travels well on a car harness in the car, loving and affectionate. And best of all, Libby is amazing with other dogs. She reads them very well and reacts accordingly. She loves a rough and tumble game with another dog if she can, but equally leaves well alone if she isn’t getting the right vibe! Although only 1 ½ Libby is mature for her age and a very quick learner.

Libby simply adores food and will do just about anything for it – so is therefore very trainable. She already knows lots of commands and will happily oblige for a treat.

She loves her walks and to meet her doggy friends and have a play. She is a bit of a hunter, and therefore will chase small furries if she sees them and definitely could not live with a cat or house rabbit etc. Equally she enjoys toys that she can chase, ie a frisbee - soft fluffy toys tend to get demolished quite quickly! But her favourite game of all is with another dog.

Libby loves people and loves affection. Sometimes when first meeting new men she can be a little wary, but very quickly recovers (especially if a treat is on offer!).

She has shown some separation anxiety in the home and she will bond with her owner very quickly. When she is left in the house, she is much happier if she is not shut in one room as this seems to stress her. Living with another dog also greatly helps her. She can now be left around 2 hours quite happily. Frozen kongs are a good distraction tool also! Libby does not cope with an indoor crate at all and therefore should not be forced to use one.

Indoors she is respectful of boundaries and adores to snooze on her bean-bag! Initially she will try and follow you around the house, which should be dis-couraged and the use of a dog gate may be needed to start with. She sleeps quietly and cleanly at night and doesn’t get up in the morning until her foster Mum wakes her. She is not bothered by any household appliances.

We are amazed at how well she has settled into her foster home. Although there is some separation anxiety still there, as long as she isn’t over-fussed or allowed to follow her new owners around the house all the time, we are sure this will continue to improve. Liberty is a stunning dog and always attracts attention from people when she is out and about. She has come such a long way and has missed out on a home for the first year of her young life, she so deserves a loving, permanent home to call her own.

Libby is looking for experienced owners who are around a lot of the time, preferably with another dog that she can play and interact with. She could live with teenagers and will need a garden. If you think you could offer Liberty the forever home she so deserves please call Battersea Dogs and Cats Home Old Windsor on 01784 494 443. Thank you.

What a wonderful looking dog she is and how really sad that she has spent so much of her young life in kennels ... I do hope someone will step forward for this pretty girlie.

She definately sounds as though she needs someone to give her time to settle, and then they will have such a great companion, and how could anyone not love that little face zheartbeat.gif
