This is Candleman

Candleman needs a very knowledgeable, calm and patient dog owner who will give him a lot of love.
Candleman has been through numerous homes and has lived in a violently abusive environment. He is an affectionate boy who loves people but suffered dreadfully and came to us extremely depressed. It took several days before he could rest properly and begin to trust that he wasn't going to be hurt.
We need an owner who can understand how to get Candleman to behave well and do as he is told using reward based training and not bullying violent methods.
It has taken a number of weeks in our care with a lot of love and attention and kindness to cheer him up. He has only just stopped flinching if you raise your hand and he is now a happy extrovert who loves his walks and playing ball is his favourite. He responds very well to reward based training and will do anything for a treat.
Candleman is currently fostered on a smallholding and doesn't hurt horses or free range chickens, he is dog friendly and plays well with dogs he meets on walks although gets a bit grumpy if other dogs nip him in play, so he would suit a home as an only dog.
He doesn't suffer from separation anxiety and is not destructive when left for up to 4 hours.
We are looking for a strong owner as he can pull on the lead, but he is extremely good off lead with excellent recall.
Neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped
