Detroit as we know it is gone. It's been replaced by Detroit Deluxe, which is a city made of ipods and iphones run by evil Mark Hamil. The undercity is where the rebels live and drive fusion powered cars.

The first two episodes are frenetic and drop you right into the middle of the story. The art style for the characters reminds me of someone I can't remember, but it's very sketchy and inked. The city is just an explosion of neon, and the cars are cg. The action sequences call to mind Samurai Jack. I can't help but think they crammed in as much cool stuff as possible for fear of being cancelled by Disney. Disney has been up to some sneakily awesome shit as of late.

I also need to find some higher quality videos. The clips on Disney.com are excellent, but they've taken down the full episodes.

I just know there's a totally adorable gas-masked villain lady with a screwed up mutant face.

I'm a bit torn about Motor City. On the one hand, I really like the animation, the action sequences are great, and I'm pretty much guaranteed to like anything with an aesthetic that reminds me even a little of Big Daddy Roth (Because I have no free will, you see). On the other hand, I find just about every main character really annoying.

So, I've seen a few more episodes now. I'm still willing to give this show a chance (I REALLY like Big Daddy Roth you guys, help) but, well... is anyone else getting the distinct impression that every episode is the same?

I was hoping for a bit more character development in the following episodes as I don't like any of the main characters either. The basics are all there and there's so much potential in the setting, but the characters weren't the least bit interesting in the first two episodes. Anyway, thanks for being obsessed with Big Daddy Roth because now I know whose style I was thinking of. Have fun in your addiction!

Admittedly it's interesting to see how the archetypal "big dumb main character" has evolved over the years. At one point it was "Duhh, I'll help ya lil' buddy!" Now it's more like Jack Black crossed with an internet tough guy.

Poor Jack Black. No matter how you feel about him as an actor, it must kinda suck to have so many "stupid" characters acting more or less like you.
