Greetings Fellow Bog Leeches,

You've likely heard of October Toys's "OMFG!" line if you follow Scythe's tumblr, but if not here is a bit of information.

OMFG! are a series of monster figures designed to emulate the old "Monster in My Pocket" figures from the early 90s. However, while the Monster in My Pocket figures were all inspired by mythology and legends, the OMFG! monsters are all original freaks designed by various different people.

Here is my set of series 1 to illustrate what I mean (in stylish purple!)

user posted image

From left to right: Crawdad Kid, Stroll, Multiskull, King Castor and Outhouse Inferno (okay, actually Phantom Outhouse).

The figures are generally a bit taller than the Monster in My Pockets were, and are made of a hard plastic which allows for more detailed sculpts. The package clearly warns that the figures are not toys, and are designed solely for nostalgic weirdos.

If you are wondering how the designs are selected, October Toys has an open submission process where fans vote on which designs they like the most. Currently series 2 has been decided, which you can check out here:

http://octobertoys.com/

(I think Puke Knight is my favourite)

At the moment, votes are being placed on series 3 until the end of September, and there are quite a few awesome designs to pick from, including ones by Scythe, as discussed here:

http://z3.invisionfree.com/bogleech/index....3058&st=0&#last

You can check out the votes and vote on the next line up yourselves at the official voting thread here:

http://octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=10225

Personally, I hope this line lasts for a long time; October Toys is a fun company to support, and the series represents the creativity of a large number of people.

Oh, and you can buy series one here:

http://octobertoys.com/shop/index.php?main...e=index&cPath=2

Also, if you are so inclined, you can donate to the line on the 'Kickstarter' page for special prizes:

I've been aware of this toy series for a while now, and, although I haven't purchased any, I'm definitely pleased with it. It's cool to see a fan-made, fan-sculpted toy line make it in these tough economic times. I do have to say that I liked the character selection of series one, with the exception of Stroll, much better than series two (Puke Knight is the bomb though), and I hope that OMFG is able to continue with many more waves of figures in the future.

Well said! I must admit that I also prefer series 1 to series 2, with the exception of Puke Knight; the idea of an amorphous organism dwelling within a suit of armor seems pretty cool to me. I'll definitely be buying at least one set.

If the current results are any indication, series 3 is shaping up to be pretty awesome.

If I was just starting my figure comic now, I'd definitely paint one of the Phantom Outhouses and use it as you. Puspool.gif

Thanks to the power of low self-control, I got my bunch of glow in the dark series 1 two days ago.

CONS: If you wanna get these to appreciate their fine sculpts? Don't get the glow in the dark ones. You need something like a high powered desklamp shining in their faces if you wanna see all the sculpt. The outhouse gets an exemption because it has the simplest surfaces but all the others sort of look like gooey messes until you shine a light that can go through them.

PROS:

user posted image

They also totally smell like coffee.

As for series 2, I might get it just because i've talked to the guy who designed Shirtle a few times on 4chan. Apparently another 4chan dude designed Multiskull, but I already have this one so YAH

You can't change people's minds with love and reasoning and respect either dude. I yell at people just for the satisfaction of them knowing I hate them for being different from me. I just wish I could actually hurt their feelings or ruin their lives somehow instead of mildly irritate them, that'd be sweet as shit.

Yes, you may want to add an epilepsy warning to your post Outhouse.

Glow in the dark stuff is always cool, but your point about the detail being lost is well-made; I generally prefer mid-dark cool colours on monochrome figures for that reason.

So the votes for series 3 are in, and one of Scythe's designs is a winner:

http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=10518

I think this will be my favourite set yet; Dr. Decay and TenCan were both choices of mine, and the ones I didn't vote for look pretty neat too.

Series 3 does indeed look cooler than Series 2. Congratulations to Jonathan on having one of the winning designs! Dr. Decay does seem a bit too derivative of 4th edition D&D Myconids to me, but it is a cool critter nonetheless--the world definitely needs more fungal monster toys. I wish the 7th place winner, Bullseye, would have won one of the top slots, I really dig that one.

Just updating with the recent news of the series 3 kickstarter, featuring Dr. Decay and his weirdo buddies; Pugnacious, Barbarianaut, Fruit Punch and TenCan. Here's the link:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/george...r/omfg-series-3

I will say that series 3 looks like it will be my favourite thus far.

I did purchase a set of series 2 (in tan colour), and I'm quite happy with it; one cool feature of Puke Knight is that the 'puke' part can be positioned separately, effectively making it two figures in one.

It's astounding. Puspool.gif
