I babysit my little cousins very often, and they just love the hell out of that cursed Disney Channel. I usually try to avoid the tv whenever they're watching it, but then I came across this fun little show called Gravity Falls.
The show is about these two kids, Dipper and Mabel Pines, who have to spend their summer with their old, grumpy, greedy great-uncle Stan in the town of Gravity Falls. Each episode is usually about the kids getting involved with paranormal activity that goes on around town, such as ghosts, monsters, etc.
I like the writing, the stories, the characters, the jokes. Just about everything in the show strikes me as good. Anyone else seen it?

... We didn't have a thread about this show already? wow.
Definitely one of the best cartoons on T.V. right now, it amazes me that this is a Disney product. It's so far above their established line of effort and quality, I'd expect to see it on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network.

God fucking dammit I have had the theme tune stuck in my head for such a long time now and I want to vocalize it but I CAN NOT WHISTLE so at the main bit I'm just making these ridiculous BEE BEE BOO BEE BEE BEE BOO noises and yeah this is a really good show, I've been enjoying it.

I heard from an unverifiable source that Slenderman appeared in one episode for a brief cameo. They provided relatively convincing photos, but I'm still not sure if I believe them until I can watch the episode myself. Beyond that, I've watched the show and it's quite good so far. It's the one show Disney's produced in the last decade that doesn't make me want to decapitate horses, mix their blood with piss, and dump it on unsuspecting toddlers. I liked the wax statuettes episode the best.

I've only seen one episode of this show but I can say without a doubt that this is the single best thing to happen to Disney Channel in recent years and I'm hoping that other shows like it will muscle out the pop star drivel that dominates it now.

Yeah everything about this show is just pure quality. It's difficult to express how in words, because there's no specific reason, it's just good, all around. It's really likable. The music is addicting, too.

Every time I see this thread I misread "gravity" as "gravy"

To be fair, and I may regret saying this, especially since I'm a couple decades older than the target audience, but I guess I'll say it anyway, Gravity Falls is not the only good cartoon on the Disney Channel. Phineas and Ferb is actually also very good, albeit in a different way; while silly, it's also quite well written, and the dialogue of the mad scientist character Dr. Doofenshmirtz in particular is generally hilarious (though I suspect much of it is improvised).
Which is not intended to derail the thread or detract from the goodness that is Gravity Falls. I agree, excellent show. (I was about to say that unfortunately I'd missed the latest episode, but if Wikipedia is to be believed they actually haven't aired new episodes the last two weeks, so I guess I haven't.)
It's worth noting that the same townspeople appear in multiple episodes in bit parts or background roles; it seems likely that many of them are characters the creators already have plans for later, which shows the thought that's gone into the series. And, of course, we have the makings of a recurring villain in 'Lil Gideon, who hasn't recurred yet but is clearly going to, and it should be interesting to see what happens when he does. (Not to mention the gnomes, who could turn up as recurring villains as well, though that's not a sure thing.)
Holy cow... I did not realize until literally just a minute ago who they'd had for some of the guest voices. Apparently Larry King and Coolio voiced their own wax dummies in the wax museum episode, Stephen Root voiced 'Lil Gideon's father, and Alfred Molina of all people voiced the Multi-Bear in "Dipper vs. Manliness". Okay, that just made the show even cooler.

By the way, has anyone else been figuring out the codes at the end of the credits? They're really neat additions to the show.
I... haven't even noticed the codes at the end of the credits, I admit.
I'll have to watch for that next time.
(Missed the latest episode on Friday, dagnabbit, and missed it again this morning. I'll have to catch it when it airs again tomorrow night or Wednesday night. Nobody post spoilers!)

The gnomes should indeed come back. Everything they said, even in disguise, was gold. And rainbows.
For what it's worth, Shmebulock the gnome does make an appearance in the Mystery Shack Mystery online game on the Disney channel site. Which... might maybe be taken as very tenuous evidence that there might be plans for the gnomes to reappear. Maybe.
