QUOTE (Poseyman @ Jun 24 2012, 08:23 PM)
Besides Fetishes and Phobias, do any other type of Mind-related creatures exist? Such as Psychosises or... I do not entirely know, Political ideals?

6. Do any mind-related monsters exist outside of phobias and fetishes?

At the moment, there's nothing directly based on psychoses as of yet. But the addictions idea rugnor mentioned might come up again later, if I have the time. In addition, there are a few creatures based around the general idea of insanity and madness. One of these is a ghoulish reptilian called Jorlulu that haunts asylums, and can psychically communicate with the inmates, for better or for worse. There's also a species of flying psychic brain that sort of spun off from humanity after a particularly violent form of psychosis arose, where a person would go mad for several weeks, eventually becoming comatose until the victim's brain forcibly removed itself from their head and started going about on its own.

But as far as actual mental disorders and traits, there's nothing direct outside of the Boogeymen and fetishes.

Bogeymen, I take it, are the name of the phobia creatures.

And if you have a name for the Phobia creatures, why not change the name of the Fetish creatures? (This is more of a suggestion than an actual question.)

I named the phobias Boogeymen a while ago, so the name's been with them a while. The fetish monsters are much newer, and I don't have any decent ideas for a fitting name at this time. I'd be happy if any of you have any ideas, but the overall name I'm going with right now is Philobites, because puns. I'd also be fine putting the fetishes under the Boogeymen name, since it would make more sense as a species name, and an easier way to refer to the mental monsters in general.

7: Nope! But I like the idea, so I might consider doing them. Especially the fact that they have sciency names like lutopatia, that in particular helps when I'm coming up with names.

As far as that's concerned, the slot machine is the only one I know of at the moment. When the time comes, feel free to suggest things.

I am searching for a dictionary or listing, but so far all I found is Pagophagia, or the need to chew on ice.

Alright, the hiatus is over, and the fetish project is back on track! We've got another 21-25 to get through, starting tonight with Fursuiting! As for Worldbuilding Week, you've all still got 13 more questions to ask, so feel free to ask anything as we go along.

Fearsuits are a vicious and hollow variety of monster, who spend most of their time minding their own buisness at their nests. When they need to obtain food, however, they use special barbs within their sheet-like bodies to latch onto another animal, usually around the head, and force it to move wherever the Fearsuit wants it to go, keeping the victim docile with a toxin that tenses muscles and relaxes nerves.

Due to the unusual way in which they hunt, it is an event when two compatible Fearsuits meet to mate. It is important to note that both participents are attached to their victims the entire time. Males will go about their way on the hunt, and females go back to their nests, raising a fresh litter of 3-5 Fearsuit pups. Freshly born Fearsuit pups start out as mere heads with paws, and grow down over time, and even growing more paws as they age.

I'm disappointed there was no reference to cuddlepiles or anything in the mating bit. Hunting males, females raising the pups? That sounds so . . . dull D=

Neat design, though. Reminds me a bit of http://oglaf.com/northerner/

I was not aware cuddlepiles were a thing when I wrote the description. Also, flatbears are an awesome idea. I actually considered a design based around bearskin rugs during the sketching process, but that sort of mutated into the furry jellyfish design in the finished product.

And now, after a long period of me working on other things, is the twenty-seventh fetish in this porject, Shadybug, the Microphilia fetish! I still have strings to tie up on a few side projects, but I'll try and keep pace with the fetishes as much as possible.

===============

Shadybugs are a rodent-sized species of insectoid creature that thrives in humid and urban environments. Though unable to fly, the humanoids are gifted with great agility and lithe bodies that allow them to overcome most obstacles. They feed through the talons on their upper arms, and use their lower arms primarily for balance and grip on vertical surfaces. A Shadybug can curl up into its shell, appearing as simply a large insect of toxic coloration, which would drive most would-be predators away.

Of immediate notice is a Shadybug's decorative markings. Black dots numbering from one to six adorn its head, with additional dots going downwards towards its pelvis. Shadybugs with more dots are generally more vicious, whereas individuals with less dots will proliferate more often and create more young. All varities carry their young in their backs, protected by the shell. Should the mother be eaten, the young crawl out the safety of their parent's back and imbed themselves in the killer's mouth, parasitizing it until they are fully matured and crawl out of the host's mouth.

The twenty-eighth fetish, Murdire, The Murder Fetish! The scanner blurred out the left half of his face, but otherwise came along nicely. I was trying for a more dynamic pose on Murdire, since I feel most of the poses I put my monsters in are too simple. I still feel like the skull could've used more work, but eh.

============

Murdire are a reclusive, serpentine race of skeletal monster that grows sharp pins on its back. They can take pins out as weapons to stab and maim their prey, and can grow new pins in little over a day. Murdire spend most of their time in hollowed-out caves and rockwall in desolate areas such as mountains or valleys, only venturing out when they smell or hear prey nearby. The smell of blood drives the creatures into near-unstoppable frenzies, and never stop attacking until their prey is either dead or maimed. Their home caverns quickly becomes littered with corpses, the stench of which attracts more animals near, creating a perpetual income of food for the beast. Two Murdires meeting is a rare occurence due to their solitary nature, and the act of mating is a particularly violent display. Despite the incredibly difficult challenge of acquiring them, Murdire pins make for a good defensive material, and are sturdy, durable weapons in their own right.
