Cabin in the Woods is a movie that came out recently. I could call it a horror film, but that would be lying.
It's about a group of five college students who go to the titular cabin in the woods and that's where the similarity to any other horror film essentially stops.

It's rare I see movie that I enjoyed as much as this.
Like, there are really no words to describe it.
It's a meta-comedy-horror-pyschological-action-slasher-thriller-mindfuck that you have to see to believe.
Seriously, go see this right the fuck now.
You won't be disappointed.

These "NOTHING LIKE THE OTHER MOVIES GO SEE IT FOR YOURSELF" reviews are the only reviews I've seen of this so far, so I guess I'll have to see it for myself...

See, I kept thinking "Okay, so I should expect the unexpected".

Then the movie takes the expected unexpected and turns it around and makes whatever unexpected thing you were expecting completely irrelevant.

And also the whole thing is sort of a commentary on modern horror movies themselves. Very interesting, in a humorous way.

I'm expecting it to be the government using a cabin in the woods to test zombie or demon or alien bio-weaponry on stupid drunk campers.
Am I extremely far off?

Well, this quells my fears. Joss Whedon does not fail to disappoint.

Sprocket. I haven't slept in 37 hours. And I'm wide awake from a caffeine binge. Sprocket. I can hear color. I can smell sound. I'm watching a documentary on quantum physics and mechanics and I think I'm vibrating at the right frequency to push my hand through the liquid-like molecular composition of glass, but am not close enough to a window to try it. I don't even feel like a person a person right now. I can feel every molecule in my existence. Screaming.

I'm not telling.

I was spoiled but the premise sounds interesting and meta enough that I might watch it anyway, though I'm not sure when it's coming out here.

Bogleech is the cool place to hang out. You can find most of the cool people there. In Bogleech you can just chill and do whatever and totally relax. "Take it easy" is the Bogleech motto, for example, that's how laid back it is there. Show up if you want to have a good time. Another good reason to show up is if you want to hang out with friends.

I honestly think that if these forums were a movie, Cabin In The Woods would be it.

The film reminds me a lot of the old Sega Dreamcast game Illbleed.

I do rather like some of the satire:

SPOILERS!

The ending features two stoned college students sitting by while the work of generations past is undone by their negligence, inaction which ultimately results in the destruction of the entire human race. It's pretty much the most clear allegorical criticism of this generation's supposed apathy that I have seen in a movie.

Granted, EVERY generation feels that way about the younger generation.

Anything that was made for the Dreamcast was doomed to obscurity. I consistently forget it even existed. I know people who owned one and forgot it existed.

That was one of my favorite Let's Plays ever.
