I finally saw Brave the other day. Since it's a Pixar film my expectations were pretty high, so I ended up not feeling very fulfilled by the end of it. Though, as animated films in general go, it was pretty good.

Every trailer, commercial and thing I've seen about Brave has left me extremely underwhelmed and even a little disinterested.
Can you give a little bigger brief review of why it disappointed?

A review of Beyond the Black Rainbow in 13 words:

Really slow, really atmospheric, real pretty and real strange. I recommend it.

Well, from what I saw in the trailers, I thought there would be more action and adventure, but it was mostly just humorous hijinks.

Today I watched two horror movies: Absentia and Parasitic.
Parasitic was about a group of badly acted strip club stereotypes who get turned into zombies by a parasite. The movie is absolutely terrible until the end, where you see all the forms of the parasite (a worm, a fish like creature, and a... Hard to describe fleshy thing). Really, it's worth watching the dumb shit just to see the awesome creatures.

Absentia is a psychological horror about two sisters who are finally filling a dead in absentia form for the older sister's late husband. At first it seems like a generic ghost movie, but it was much more than that. It was pretty well acted, well scripted, and a had nice disturbing vibe to it. I really think you guys would like it.

So, I saw Session 9 today, which is a psych-horror about a clean-up crew who goes to work at an abandoned asylum.

While some of the dialogue sequences and sound effects are pretty cheesy, and the plot is semi-generic at some points, the film manages to be disturbing in a way I can't describe, particularly in it's final line of dialogue and the recorded interview tapes with a patient that are numbered from Session 1 to the eponymous 9.

It's a pretty okay film. It's entertaining and kind of disturbing, but don't expect too much.

THIS is what counts as recent flim for me, besides Ice Age 4, which was a collection of other peoples' opinions because fuck it if I'd watch that damn thing.

JOHN CARTER: Better than the ad campaign suggests, but then again a pack of rabid badgers making patterns in their own entrails could have done a better job than the ad writers. The main thing that bugged me through the entire movie was how high John jumped, I was like "NOT EVEN ON THE MOON CAN YOU GO THAT HIGH, STOP DOING THAT MARIO". The movie can also be interpteted to have more than a bit of "superman foreigner white guy", so admiral_aorta and dodoman1 will hate it. It was decent overall otherwise.

HUNGER GAMES: Easily better than the books. The books spend all their time inside the protagonist's head and narrative thought, and either though thoughtlessness or actual misguidedness, gives the reader a bunch of shoddy morals and hypocrisy. The movie just lets stuff happen and lets the death and the falsity of the rich folk hit you in the face, so you can decide for yourself easier. Not really a must see but you won't be disappointed.

WRATH OF THE TITANS: More like wrath of the one actual titan. The biggest complaint I have with this movie is why the hell is it only 90 minutes long? That wasn't really enough time to deal with any of the issues and questions the movie poses. Sam Worthington is the world's most charisma-less leading man as usual, and the gods being focused on MAY have worked if (spoilers) they didn't all die one by one.
Cronus gets killed in one shot, just like the kraken, but unlike the kraken it actually shows him fighting and reacting something instead of just moving forward at a town and having it explode. Unfortunately, all the other action sequences seem less ambitious than the first movie's. You aren't missing anything with this one.

I saw the Dark Knight Rises. If I can set aside my feelings on the terrible tragedy that took place today (and that is certainly a big if), the film itself was quite good; every bit as over the top and akin to a modern day morality play as one would hope. The acting is excellent, and while I miss Heath Ledger I think it might be the best entry in the series.

Also, that certainly was one crazy prison.

It really is a sad event, but that shouldn't get in the way of your feelings for the movie. I haven't seen it yet, but hopefully I'll see it this weekend

probably should have posted this a week or soo ago, but haven't consumed enough liquid courage to do so untill now, so here we go.

She monkeys: so me, my parents and my neigbours went on a fishing vacation to a cabin, but because of the rain did we get stuck inside, and becuse they brought more swedish movies then I did this one get chosen as the first one too be watched.

as most of you guys know, I hate 90% of swedish movies made after the switch beteeen the 80's/90's, and this turned out to not be a exception of this rule.

but before we get to the plot, robert de niro thought this was the best movie at a film festival, wich is both the funniest and most disturbing thing about this movie at the same time.

From the back of the DvD case did this movie sound rather interesting, about 2 girls breaking rules and doing some sort of criminal stuff, but the only law they break are "stealing a guys pants and trousers and the money found in them", the rest is about horses and a stuff.

but now you say,"but wort, that sounds like it would only be enough for half a move."and you are right, there is a second storyline with one of the main girls little sisters.

what to know what that storyline is?

how a underage girl loves her 15+( the actor looks like 18-20, but his age is not given) cousin and how she tries to make him love her back(wearing a bikiini colored as a large feline animal I can't remeber the patern of right now).

no, this is not just the drunk ramblings of a random person in the internet, this is whats happens in the movie(plus a mildly creepy scene with the dad a the underage girl earlier in the movie.).

so this is a movie made by a female director that on one half bores you to death and the other makes you feel like you watched something really illegal.

My mom said the exact same thing when I went to see it. Speaking of which, I thought The Dark Knight Rises dragged heavily in the middle, and it didn't seem better than The Dark Knight, but I still enjoyed it, and I especially enjoyed the ending. I'd recommend it to people who weren't sure whether to see it or not.

Rebirth of mothra 2. Its very silly and the 9o's era cgi has not aged so well, it wouldn't be such a problem if there want so much of it.
