I've been thinking over a suggestion I got a while back, and I thought it might be cool to do another screenshot video game creepypasta, this time about Megaman.

The basic idea I have is that the story is about a very strange and elaborate ROM hack being posted on a forum. The new game is quite different from the original, but certain elements still remain, like 6 stages that can be played in optional order.

The "Robot Masters" are more like deranged monsters, and when the player character defeats them, he gains the ability to transform into a similar monster.

That's about all I got idea-wise at the moment though. If I make it, the story probably won't be all that long. If you have suggestions I'm all ears, but real suggestions only please.

If you're considering another video game creepypasta, why not take your sprite work farther and concoct the entire game yourself, rather than an abnormal version of an existing game? You could make it seem like some real game that nobody's actually heard of, which the narrator might be unable to find any history of anywhere.

That would leave room for your imagination to go totally nuts.

The megaman idea may be cool anyhow though, just a thought.

Also what WAS the original context to "grap a monkey life?"

I had been thinking making a creepypasta themed game. I might do that instead of making another story, if that's what people would rather have. It would certainly be a more immersive experience.

For either a story or a game, my main problem is that I seem to run out of ideas faster than I used to. It's like I go to design a monster or something and I end up just staring at MS Paint for 3 minutes all like "duuuuuh wut do?".

Ironic thing is, if I where to make a game, it would have to be a Construct thing made from scratch and not a game hack. This is because editing the graphics for NES games is a horrifying, aneurism inducing process that's practically a creepypasta in itself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9doX7z0_IvM

It's just not worth it (IMO) to have to assemble the sprite pieces out of this fucked up jigsaw puzzle before you can even begin to edit anything.

As for "grap a monkey life": There was some religious argument on a youtube video and this one guy said in his post "IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT THEN GRAP A MONKEY LIFE", which I find hysterical. I asked what it meant and I got an explanation that just confused me further. *The guy seems to be batshit crazy.*

Oh, I wasn't even thinking about making an actual playable game (as awesome as that would also be) ....I just meant that if you make a creepypasta about a video game, the entire video game could be fictional, then even the "innocent" parts before it goes all evil and wrong could be your original creations rather than say, editing megaman.

Like, it's obvious the Godzilla Creepypasta is a creepypasta because people know that's not what the Godzilla NES game was like. If the whole game is fake, but seems ordinary enough at first, people won't even know at what point it's going "wrong." You could even start a whole new blog that doesn't make it obvious it's just a pasta.

If you go with Scythe's idea and make it an original game, you should have a level where you have to fight some sort of demon which is causing the extinction of the non-bird dinosaurs.

As much as I like you to take on mega man. I think it would be better for you to make a fictional game of your own and run with it.

Hmm...maybe you should make one based off of something a little more innocent and whimsical. May I suggest Kirby's Adventure? Or possibly Earthbound Zero?

Kirby? Innocent? He literally eats everybody! That kinda works in favor of the creepypasta though... And Earthbound is quite sinister as well. What about something unique? Like a metroid creepypasta? Maybe something on those "secret" glitch worlds (especially in M2)

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link?

I've never read a good zelda creepypasta. Except maybe BEN, but that wasn't a creepypasta. And I didn't read it.

I can see what you're saying. I'm just not sure I'm skilled enough to pull that kind of thing off, I seriously doubt I could convince anyone to think I had a recently uncovered lost Nintendo game *God knows how bad the clunky writing in Godzilla creepypasta got at times.*

I suppose an entirely original game/story would be the most interesting option. It seemed to me that the totally new characters in the Godzilla creepypasta where the best part of it for most people, so a 100% new thing might be even more interesting. Maybe. I'll be brainstorming on ideas.

So I would have changed the topic to make it a poll but since I can't: Would you guys rather have a story or a game?

It doesn't have to be an "official" Nintendo game.

It could be something by a third party developer that had a very limited release due to it being mysteriously pulled off the market, or something...

If you want to go 'demonic possession', you can use Wisdom Tree games and make it ironic. Not because it's obscure, but because they're all about JEEZUS KRAYST and his dad, the magical sky wizard. They've made some fairly awful NES games.
I could also suggest a Pokemon-based creepypasta, but that's really overdone (I've seen some REALLYREALLY good ones, though).
...maybe Cave Story or that one Chrono Trigger sequel that was almost going to be made? Not Chrono Cross or Radical Dreamers-those actually exist. I think it was called Chrono Jump...Time travel would be an interesting component in a creepypasta.

But whatever, it's your story, do what you want.

I think you'd do better to do a let's play type thing of a completely made up game. Just say that you found this game on your hard drive and you're taking screenshots of it. That's much more convincing than having a lost nintendo prototype that no one's ever heard of or whatever. I also think that the writing should be bare bones, less is more type thing. Let the "screenshots" speak for themselves, don't describe how terrifying it was in great detail for ages. The writing was definitely the weakest part of the godzilla thing whereas the images were great. I also think that it's much scarier to never actually explain everything. Having a game that's wierd for no discernable reason is much better than 'it was a haunted game that killed my parents and now it's out to get me'. That's my take on the idea anyway.

"Take it easy" is the Bogleech motto, for example, that's how laid back it is there. Show up if you want to have a good time. Another good reason to show up is if you want to hang out with friends.
