Also, here's a brand new article on their development of the D&D Next design of the Gnoll.

And now here's an article with the D&D Next designs of the Lizardfolk and Troglodyte. I think JL would especially like the Troglodyte (Which is now a degenerate type of Lizardfolk) since they've gone back to the lithe design, as well as given them visible stink glands.

Goddamnit I have never been able to retrieve my wizards.com account to comment on stuff or the forums. Password help is always an error message Their troglodyte is great, the distinctions between the two are finally taken into consideration from a real world evolutionary perspective.

Didja check to see if Scriptblocker is blocking anything on the WOTC website? I know you use that program as well, and that sometimes happens to me. Also which account are ya talking about, because I see two of them on there, Bogleech and CarrionCrawler. I frequent that forum, and I could ask one of the mods to help ya out if working with Scriptblocker doesn't work. Also, Chiknhart, the Pathfinder Troglodyte does look an awful lot like that one you posted.

| QUOTE | | Anybody know what a D&D "Bog Bloke" is supposed to be? They're encountered in one of R.A. Salvatore's Icewind Dale trilogy novels (I don't recall which book it was, but the characters were in a big swamp, and ran into those, trolls, and some kind of giant aquatic worm). If I'm remembering right, they were just little humanoid plant critters that weren't particularly strong. I've read most of the Monster Manuals, Fiend Folios, etc., but I've never seen a Bog Bloke in any of them. Are they something that Salvatore just made up, or just a slang name for another creature? "Baby" Shambling Mounds maybe? |
I remember thems.
I just kinda assumed they were some sort of shambler sub-species or at least a close relative based on just the description. I think the exact book is Streams of Silver.

The Sy-Fy Channel had a new D&D movie on Saturday Night, "Dungeons & Dragons: The Book of Vile Darkness" (obviously inspired by the 3rd Edition tome). Anybody watch it? I only viewed the first hour of it, because it came on at 9 PM, and I always watch the prison-life ongoing documentary "Lock-Up", on MSN, at 10 PM (real, human "monsters" are infinitely more entertaining/interesting than fictional ones to me.) What I saw wasn't terrible, although it wasn't particularly great either (which is typical of Sy-Fy's original productions.) I did like that the movie focused on an "evil" party of characters (Shadar-Kai witch, Assassin, Necromancer, etc.), rather than the typical band of heroes. The only actual monster I saw was a CG Red Dragon, which was technically a Wyvern (the forearms/wings were a combined structure), but it had multiple sets of eyes and looked pretty cool.
