I think the advanced graphics and colors were acknowledged in the story as early signs that the game was beyond the capabilities of an NES and had something PECULIAR going on.

OH SNAP, you're right.

I don't know what you're pointing out, that article's been there since before the creepypasta concluded.

MAKING POST HERE BECAUSE I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH TIMES FOR COMING UP WITH THIS AND POSTING IT

Also to clarify yes this creepypasta is one of the best VG pastas/stories I've read so far, and it's my new favorite VG pastas after this one called the penytintar arcade (fucking spellings), a bunch of other stories from the same place as that one (particularly one about a game with an invisible character and a mine) and this short pasta about a game called 4 that was on /x/.

And um yes you got me inspired to make a VG pasta myself. I'm not sure if it'll ever reach completion so I'll just say it's a creepypasta based on a really weird Action 52 lookalike.

So I found some modeling clay and had a go at sculpting Red. Now, I haven't worked with clay in about 5 years so my skills are rusty. But I had fun making this.

He can't stand up on his legs of course, so I decided to make him a pencil sharpener ornament! His legs are yellow because I didn't have any brown handy, this was one of those 4 color clays packs (red, blue, green, yellow), and I figured yellow was the most expendable.

Made a post on the blog regarding the sequel, I'll post it here too

about NES Godzilla Creepypasta 2-

I have been considering it even while I was making the first one. Being positive, I think at least one more good story could be gotten from the material. It seems like even when I’m trying to come up with ideas for other things, my mind always wanders back to stuff I could do for this sequel.

It’s not a sure thing though.

Since completing this story I’ve realized that my writing leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve always been more of an artist than a writer, and that is apparent in the story, sometimes to embarrassing extent.

If I were to make a sequel I would want it to be better than the original, otherwise it would be unnecessary. And I’m not sure I could write a better story.

The other thing is that making a screenshot story of this scale takes a huge amount of time and effort. I had to work on NGC in my free time without any assistance, and it took the majority of a year to create.

That being said, here are the ideas I had posted regarding a possible sequel. This is the list where the TvTropes mention of Rodan and the Seven Sins demons came from. Possible spoilers, if you’re wary of that.

Possible title: Godzilla:Replay

A new guy (Carl) does indeed buy the game.

Unlike the 1st story, where the story all happened in one night and it’s all in past tense, the 2nd story will have the new narrator play a world a day(Or one per week) and make a summary at the end of each one. He’s not sure what will happen next.

The story focuses on Carl playing the same cartridge, except now the game has entirely reinvented itself from the start. It doesn’t progress through the same “worlds” that Zach went through. I will attempt to add more new gameplay elements, and try for a less predictable flow of events.

There will be more of an emphasis on exploring what’s in the game, seeing what it’s capable of, testing it’s limits, and hopefully figuring out WHY the game is the way it is. For example, early on Carl discovers that the game will only go into it’s supernatural weirdness if only one person is watching the screen as it happens.

I’m considering having each world with a specific objective that has to be completed at the end to progress(Create Godzilla, Rescue Rodan), etc.

As for new monsters, game play stuff, etc:

First world is like an introductory world. Carl starts out with one monster – Godzillasaurus. Bosses consist of the Yog Trio, and the last boss of World 1 is a large ceratopsian dinosaur that is fought on “Lagos Island”, just before the bomb hits. When the bomb hits, Godzillasaurus is transformed into Godzilla.

New bosses most likely to show up are:
Ganimes and Kameobas (completing Yog Trio) Mechagodzilla 90′s, King Kong, Sanda/Gaira (Tag Team Fight) Kamacuras.

Instead of replacement monsters, a team of demons based off the Seven Sins

Rodan as a new playable character, revealed early on in the game. Plays the role of “flying monster” that Mothra did, only a bit better at combat.

New demonic villain:

Not a revived Red, not named after a color. Different kind of personality and tactics.

Quiz time! Some questions for the audience.

1. Would you want to see Godzilla:Replay?

2. What were your favorite parts of NES Godzilla Creepypasta?

3. What elements of the story worked best, and you would want to see more of in the sequel?

4. Conversely, which elements of the story didn’t work, and you would want to see absent/less of/done differently in the sequel?

5. Do you have any other particular ideas regarding a sequel?

6. In the event that a sequel is started, would you be willing to offer assistance?

Okay so I created an account (Posting this FIRST before doin' a profile picture or a signature) just to let you know how freaked out I got at the point of CHAPTER 5 PART 2.

Literally after I read the part about Melissa, I scrolled down a little, and then a little faster and faster, anxiety just fucking dominating the dread that I felt till I got to the face. Now as I was scrolling, a fucking chill was going through my body- and it just got WORSE and WORSE until I got to the face. (It was like I was scrolling with FEAR)

I mean I am literally shaking and trying to ease this terrified knot in my chest.

It's crazy.

(also doesn't help that I was- and am now still- listening to the music you offered for the tundra level.)

I would also like to add that I have never played any of the NES Godzilla games to my dismay.

But I sure as hell won't at all after this.

OKAY NOW I'M GOING BACK TO READING...

great its 2am.

Crosby, wonderful fucking job.

If your story telling can illicit physical actions faster than emotional reactions- I don't care what ANYONE has to say- you're doing it right.

Now I'm going to finish this thread and try to sleep well.

And also give my support on your decision for a sequel : D (How exciting!)

1. Absolutely

2. The sections where the game just barely started to creep into the inexplicable; the totem poles, the Unforgiving Cold temple, the frozen forest, the TV screens, etc. They added a very powerful underlying chill for me.

3.I'm surprised you said your writing left a lot to be desired; for the most part I thought you did an excellent job of bringing the story full circle and keeping the action fresh throughout. That being said, the art is the most impressive part in that your creature and environment concepts are great, and your descriptions of their various actions give the sense that while the game is anything but normal, its "inhabitants" are bound by video game rules (a very interesting touch)

4. While your writing was very solid as a whole, I thought the dialogue towards the end was a bit clunky (and I mean that in the most constructive way possible.) I wouldn't say do away with it, but it could use some polishing.

5. None at the moment. You're the boss, man 360.gif

6. Once again, absolutely. I can give advice, lift heavy objects; consider me at your disposal, sir.
