QUOTE (Mr. Cales @ Jan 5 2012, 06:21 PM)
Chimp/lab rat combo?

maybe some sort of all-purpose chimera combining the traits of common lab animals?
It would be easy to have a sort of cobbled-together Rat/Fruitfly/Chimp/Frog/etc Frankenstein, but if this creature were to be used for experimental purposes, it would be better if it was more or a "natural" hybrid, where the origins of the creature blend together.

There should be a sheep mortasheen which produces perfect copies of itself through parasitic reproduction or something.

In reference to the first cloned animal.

As soon as I saw Bezulga, I was reminded of the time I was eating popcorn and accidentally put a clump of industrial-strength salt into my mouth. I spent the next 10 minutes rinsing my mouth out and spitting furiously while my mucosal membranes had all the fluids sucked out of them.

For a lab animal themed monster, I think that since Mortasheen's main lab animals are humans, maybe there could be a creature that was once a human so heavily experimented upon that he becomes a semi-metallic, tumorous monstrosity, bleeding and weeping all sorts of toxic biochemicals and mutagens, as well as compounds that may heal or increase psychic powers. Maybe he could be the Abiozoa Ultimate.

Also, Scythe, while you've said it yourself that you don't really consider any of the monsters truly and inherently evil (except for the Dolfury), are there any NPCs on either the Wreathe or Mortasheen sides (Or unaligned with either) that you would consider truly evil?

Nah, just rude jerks.

Pretty much like the real world; nobody actually sets out to be evil. Some people are just crazy, sociopathic or have a different idea of right vs. wrong.

Well, if one defines evil has, 'having malicious intent', the number of evil individuals does widen significantly.

My preferred definition of "evil" is:

▸ adjective: tending to cause great harm

It's not so much a mindset as a product of action, to me. Way I figure it, the only evil mindsets or personalities are ones that gravitate toward... causing great harm. Or particularly, unnecessary harm. Any harm. Being an asshole could be considered evil in an incredibly minor and insignificant way, and genocide could be considered evil in a major way. That said I like how Scythe defines it. Evil's not an intention, but it's just something that everyone eventually does in a minor or major form.

Sorry. Didn't mean to drift off topic. Scutigera's comment made me want to chime in though. :<

Think of it like Team Rocket, james was an abandoned kid and jessie is a huge slut.
They're just trying to make money by joining a criminal gang, its their job. Thats what they "know" is right. They aren't intentionally trying to be pricks.

Nope, no concept of aligment fits into Mortasheen really. Without a centralized government or any mainstream religions there's no real moral code anyone subscribes to, everyone's just on a personal quest for power, survival and knowledge.

The earliest idea you can trace Mortasheen back to, however, was my concept for a virtual pet world where you were blatantly an evil villain in a brutal city ruled by dark overlords you were trying to impress.

You would have used your monsters to raid towns of innocent people/cute cartoon animals and harvest their organs.

Um, I have a question that's been bugging me for a while now.

What would happen if a Psychodrome and a Xenogog met?

I've been Lurking for a Little while, and I have but one question (okay, maybe a few more) regarding a character design:

1) Is it entirely possible to have, say, a Malphas wrapped in a Graunch as your GORE (Go-to Option Regarding Enemies)? If yes, how would the game handle that?

2) Would this be a Sectilian?
QUOTE
A humanoid figure that has an insectoid chest/thorax, while their stomach/abdomen is entirely human except for the spine/spinal cord, which is encased in similar material and extends at least 15cm from their body, tail-like.

3) Who or what is Axabod? Is it/he/she a location (by size) or character?

4) Is my character able, in-game, to call down bolts of lightning at will? Or will I have to settle for a more biological, electic-eel-like Lightning from the body thing?

Thanks.

You can perhaps give graunch abilities to a malphas and say that the whole graunch wraps around it.

That is probably a sectilian.

Unless I said it somewhere in a post (I forget) you'll have to find out what Axabod is in the book (or asking someone who downloads the book, I guess!)

I'm not sure player characters will get awesome powers since it might reduce the importance of having monsters to fight for you, but I'm sure there would be scientific explanations for a power to "call" lightning, something or other with ions.
