"I'm the Doctor."
"Doctor who?"
"Nothing, just the Doctor."

Thread for all things Doctor Who and spin-offs (Torchwood, etc.), which will probably result in just mostly talking about the monsters, given the nature of this forum, as such, here are some of my favorites.

The Face of Boe:

A nice, standard giant alien face in a jar. He's a recurring character (who was one of my favorites) whose true identity is one of my favorite twists in any TV series ever.

Weeping Angels:

One of the most well received out of all the non-human creations from the show (and the only one that ever really manages to be frightening), the Weeping Angels are freaky bastards who turn to stone whenever anything lays eyes upon them. They've been in two episodes so far, both of them absolutely incredible.

Prisoner Zero:

A one shot monster making a great season premiere even better, this is Prisoner Zero, an eel like alien who hides in the corner of people's eyes. It can access memories and take the form of people in said memories. A giant eyeball in a spaceship is also in that episode, but it's rather boring.

And how could you make a post about Doctor Who monsters without including...

THE DALEKS

The Daleks are the main villains in Doctor Who. No matter what season you're watching, whether it's the old or the new series, they are there. If the writers don't have an idea for an episode, they make a Dalek episode.

I've always liked their actual anatomy to their mechanical shells, though those are cool as well. It's just something about their tentacle-y-ness and their one big eye that call to me.

So there you go! Feel free to post your favorite monsters and scenes and whatnot.

Dalek face looks sad. :<

These are awesome. This is yet another one of those franchises that looks neat, but is so immense I don't know where to start.

First unmasked dalek face is laughing hysterically, second face is indeed sad.

I'd say start with season 1 of the new series. That's where I started and it worked well biggrin.gif

Awesome, I actually meant to make a Doctor Who thread for some time but never got around to it, so thanks Icy!

Doctor Who used to scare the hell out of me as a kid. I watched reruns of the 3rd Doctor and distinctly remember one story about a green one-eyed maggot creature that gave me nightmares.

Anyway, I recommend starting with the new series as well, since it is a pretty good jumping on point.

I love the new design for the mutant Dalek forms. Originally, they were basically greenish slime and relatively undefined, but you can't go wrong with a one eyed squid.

You're welcome 8D

And Christopher Eccleston makes an amazing first doctor.

The new Dalek form is fan fricking tastic. Everything about it is wonderful.

I'd also recommend you start with the first series of the new Doctor Who. You don't really need to start with the old series to understand what's going on in it.

Also, if you see that there's an episode called Love and Monsters, that's a glitch. No episode exists with that name. No episode called Love and Monsters was ever made, and if it was, it was so horrible that I refuse to acknowledge its existance.

Also shame on you, Icy, for not mentioning the best bit about Prisoner Zero!

When he takes the form of people's memories, they're often accompanied by others - a man walking a dog, or a woman with her two daughters, for example. The issue with this is, he gets the voices mixed up - so the dog talks and the man barks, for instance.

You can also start with Series 5, since it's a new Doctor, new writers and no storylines carrying over from previous series. The production values and overall quality of writing are better too. The classic series doen't really have overarching storylines so you can mostly jump in anywhere. The fourth Doctor(Tom Baker) is probably a good place to start. The classic series is a very different format though.

Bogleech is the cool place to hang out. You can find most of the cool people there. In Bogleech you can just chill and do whatever and totally relax. "Take it easy" is the Bogleech motto, for example, that's how laid back it is there. Show up if you want to have a good time. Another good reason to show up is if you want to hang out with friends.

I always thought that doctor who was gay.

I am approximately nothing, and well nigh everything.
That bare space on your wall?
The empty area of your walk in closet?
The wide bleak flatness of a field?
The cosmic gulf of space?
All that is nil and void am I, for I am the embodiment of zero, the undetectable but potent god who waits and watches!
I am The Elder One, who has always existed and will always exist!
I am here. I am there. It is already too late!
